NEW: ‘Bizarre’ Scene Outside Mitch McConnell’s Home Raises Eyebrows

Questions are still swirling around Sen. Mitch McConnell’s health, but life at his Washington, D.C., home appears to be moving right along, at least when it comes to the floors.

A TMZ D.C. producer went to McConnell’s residence Friday hoping to get answers about the 84-year-old Kentucky Republican’s condition and instead spotted an unexpected visitor leaving the house.

It was not McConnell.

It was a man carrying carpet samples.

The producer spoke with the man off camera, and the conversation suggested new tiles may also be under consideration.

The odd scene comes as McConnell remains hospitalized after a June 14 medical emergency at his Washington home.

Paramedics responded that morning to a report of an unconscious person at the residence, according to dispatch audio previously reported by multiple outlets.

Video obtained by CNN showed emergency responders wheeling a person on a stretcher toward an ambulance outside McConnell’s home.

The footage was shot from a distance, and the person’s face was not visible.

A neighbor who filmed the scene told CNN there was no obvious sense of panic or urgency from emergency crews.

McConnell’s office has not publicly detailed what caused the hospitalization.

His team has only said he was admitted to the hospital and was receiving “excellent care.”

That silence has fueled days of speculation about the former Senate Republican leader’s condition.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene went scorched-earth this week, claiming McConnell was a vegetable and attacking his wife, Elaine Chao, for being overseas while he was hospitalized.

Greene described Chao as his “Communist Chinese spy” wife.

Others have pushed back against the darker rumors.

Republican commentator Scott Jennings said he recently spoke with McConnell by phone for “just shy of 20 minutes” and said the senator was lucid enough to discuss current events.

President Donald Trump, meanwhile, said earlier this week that he had “no idea” how McConnell was doing.

McConnell is not seeking reelection but has said he intends to serve out the rest of his term.

His office’s refusal to provide a fuller public explanation has kept the rumor mill alive.

Now, with reporters camped outside and carpet samples coming out of the house, the mystery around McConnell’s condition has taken an even stranger turn.

Whatever is happening behind closed doors, somebody at the residence appears to be thinking about new flooring.
