Kansas Governor Laura Kelly Vetoes Bill to Ensure Women Aren’t Forced to Have Abortions

They say they’re pro-choice and not pro-abortion, but Kansas Governor Laura Kelly just proved that’s not true. Today the Democrat governor vetoed a bill to ensure that women are not forced to have abortions or ace pressure or coercion before an abortion takes place.

The measure the legislature passed would have has abortion centers ask women why they are having abortions – so they can be provided better help and support and to prevent coercion. With a majority of women saying they face pressure to have an abortion from their partner, friends or family or workplace, the legislation is vitally important.

At least eight states require similar reporting to protect women from unwanted abortions.

Danielle Underwood, director of communications for Kansans for Life, told LifeNews she was disappointed but not surprised by the pro-abortion governor’s actions.

“Once again, Governor “Coercion Kelly” has shown how radical she is when it comes to abortion, lacking basic compassion for women who are pushed or even trafficked into abortions,” she said.

Underwood called on the legislature to override the veto.

“Like in 2023, we call upon the Kansas House and Senate to once again override her heartless vetoes,” said Danielle Underwood, KFL Director of Communications.

Studies show over 60% of women face pressure to have abortions.
