Palestinian figure Mohammad Dahlan posted Saturday that Jared Kushner had assured him Israel would halt all attacks and targeted killings in Gaza beginning Sunday morning, linking the claim to Palestinian factions, including Hamas, approving a 15-point disarmament plan. Hours later, Dahlan edited the post significantly.
The revised version removed the language of a firm guarantee. Instead, it stated Kushner “has informed us that he is working with the Israeli side to halt the attacks on Gaza” and that contacts continue to ensure implementation. The change eliminated the claim of an already-reached agreement for an immediate cessation.
Dahlan, a former Fatah and Gaza security chief now based in the United Arab Emirates, has no official role in Palestinian governance. His posts reflect his claimed involvement in behind-the-scenes contacts regarding disarmament and postwar arrangements.
The timing of the revision is significant. No public confirmation emerged from Jared Kushner, the Trump administration, or Israeli officials supporting Dahlan’s initial claim of a binding agreement. The Israeli military, meanwhile, reported conducting strikes against Hamas commanders over the weekend and emphasized that operations against active threats remain ongoing.
The post revision illustrates the gap between Palestinian diplomatic positioning and verifiable commitments. Dahlan’s initial post framed the agreement as done; the revised version repositioned it as work-in-progress.
