Trump Cancels Iran Attack, Calls for Immediate Peace Deal After Allies Make Unusual Request
President Donald Trump has called for an immediate peace deal with Iran after U.S. allies made unusually vocal calls to hold off on any massive attack.
In a Saturday night Truth Social post, Trump made the announcement, while still leaving the threat of military action on the table.
“The USA is locked and loaded and ready to go against the Islamic Republic of Iran, at levels of Military Terror, Strength, and Power not seen since World War II,” Trump said.

“Despite this, we have just been asked by Iran, and other Middle Eastern Countries, to hold off any attack in that the perimeters of a deal has been agreed to.”
He also announced that the deal would have to include opening of the Strait of Hormuz and ending Iran’s nuclear weapons program.
“Based on this request, I have agreed, for the future benefit of the WORLD and, likewise, the survival of a successful and prosperous Iran, to cancel the attack, subject to being able to rapidly make a DEAL,” Trump wrote.

On Saturday, the Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman said in a phone call that he had concerns about the United States possibly escalating the conflict with Iran, Axios reported.
According to the news out, “The meeting was added to the Saudi minister’s itinerary after he met with Vice President Vance and told him that Saudi Arabia favored de-escalation with Iran, a source familiar with the matter said.”
Axios also reported that other Middle Eastern powers, including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey and Pakistan, are also pushing the U.S. and Iran to de-escalate.
As RedState’s Nick Arama reported, this comes after the Iranian regime attempted a surprise attack against U.S. forces on Tuesday.
Not only did the U.S. successfully shut down all its missiles, but Iran did not enjoy the U.S. response, because the U.S. forces hit Iran’s terrorist proxies in Iraq who were involved in the attacks against U.S. troops.
The change in Trump’s stance comes not only amid increasing diplomatic pressure, but also in light of rising domestic pressure to change course in the Iranian military conflict.
According to an AP-NORC poll, two-thirds of U.S. adults did not believe the war with Iran was worth fighting. That included the vast majority of Democrats and Independents and 37 percent of Republicans.
The pollsters found that few Americans wanted to continue fighting the war:
Only about 2 in 10 U.S. adults want to continue military action in Iran, while about 3 in 10 say the U.S. should pause military action and seek a renewed ceasefire through negotiations. About 2 in 10 want to completely stop military action in Iran and roughly one-quarter don’t know enough to say.
About half of Republicans say the U.S. should continue military action against Iran, particularly those who identify as “very conservative.” Republicans who identify as MAGA — part of Trump’s Make America Great Again movement — are much likelier than non-MAGA Republicans to say the war should continue. Non-MAGA Republicans are more likely to want a ceasefire or a complete halt to the military action.
As the Republican Party comes down the home stretch heading into the November elections, it can scarcely afford an unpopular war at a time when Americans can barely afford groceries.
In the minds of a lot of Americans, the war in Iran cannot end too soon.
