‘Jury Responsibility’ Season 2: Launch Date, Solid and New Setting Defined
The Emmy-nominated hidden-camera comedy Jury Duty is coming back with a completely new setting, a new unsuspecting participant and a fresh concept that swaps the courtroom for a corporate retreat at a fictional hot sauce company.
New Season, New Format
Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat premieres on March 20 on Prime Video, with the first three episodes dropping that day. The first season premiered in 2023 on Amazon FreeVee, so the move to Prime Video places the show on a larger platform with easier access for more viewers.
The biggest change is the setting itself. Season one centered on Ronald Gladden, who believed he was serving as a juror during a court case but was actually surrounded by actors participating in an elaborate prank. Season two transplants the concept into an entirely different world.
According to a synopsis, Company Retreat takes place during a “corporate offsite event at a family-owned hot sauce company.” The fictional company is called Rockin’ Grandma’s. During the trip, the founder announces plans to step down, after which “the getaway transforms into a clash between big corporate ambitions and small business values, with control of the company hanging in the balance.”
Instead of the procedural environment of a courtroom, the production team has built an elaborate workplace drama around their unsuspecting star — complete with corporate power struggles, coworker dynamics and high-stakes boardroom tension. Except none of it is real for everyone except one person.
According to Variety, Company Retreat was filmed in Agoura Hills, a suburb of Los Angeles.
Meet Anthony, the New Unsuspecting Star
This time around, the unsuspecting participant at the center of the show is Anthony. He is introduced in the series as a temporary worker joining coworkers on the company trip. Anthony fills the role previously held by Ronald Gladden in the first season, serving as the only non-actor among the cast.
“Anthony’s charisma and kindness stood out immediately,” executive producer Nick Hatton told People. “From day one, it was clear Anthony was going to be a great hero. As for how we found him — that’s part of the secret sauce required to make the show! But safe to say there were thousands of candidates and we’re so happy we landed the right one.”
The Ensemble Cast Keeping Up the Charade
Surrounding Anthony is a full ensemble of actors tasked with keeping the charade alive. The season two cast includes Alex Bonifer, Blair Beeken, Emily Pendergast, Erica Hernandez, Jerry Hauck, Jim A. Woods, LaNisa Renee Frederick, Marc-Sully Saint-Fleur, Rachel Kaly, Rob Lathan, Ryan Perez, Stephanie Hodge, Warren Burke and Wendy Braun.
