What if Jesse and Ashley Ridgway Discovered Out Their Child Had Down Syndrome After Start?
By now most of you have heard of or seen the viral video and other postings of YouTube influencer Jesse Ridgway and the decision to abort his Down syndrome baby.
Now many spoke up to say this was wrong, citing, among other things, the right of Down syndrome children to live, the happiness they share, and the love they evoke in their families.
Others will complain that we who defend the rights of these babies don’t have compassion.

But as I explained today on the Jenna Ellis show (at 47:06) and on my own video, this is not a battle between life and compassion.
Let’s do a little thought experiment.
Suppose this couple had found out about the Down syndrome diagnosis after the baby had just been born.
At that point, the challenges of raising a Down syndrome baby are exactly the same.
So do we have compassion for the parents in that situation? Of course.
And is one solution to just kill the baby there in the delivery room? Of course not.
So what does compassion demand? Or do we have less compassion for the couple after the baby is born than we do before?
Or is this just about discrimination against the unborn?
These are the questions to challenge people in this discussion.
