San Francisco Giants Game Attendance Is Down; Guess Who Is Getting Blamed for It?
We are almost into August, but the left-leaning sports industry cannot let go of the stand taken by four Christian players during a San Francisco Giants Pride Month game. Three of the players wrote a Bible verse on their Pride-themed hats during the June game, while one of the players simply wore his standard Giants cap. It had the LGBTQ+ mafia in an uproar, as well as Major League Baseball (MLB) and the Giants franchise panties in a wad.
Now this latest fallout: Attendance has been down, and it’s all these players’ fault.
Attendance at home games for the San Francisco Giants is down since the fallout of three Christian players on the team demeaning the LGBTQ community at Pride Night began to explode.
That’s pure bat guano. The Christian players weren’t “demeaning” anyone. The Genesis 9:12-16 verse that pitchers Landon Roupp, JT Brubaker, and Ryan Walker wrote on their baseball caps next to the rainbow insignia read:
This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.
So, the players were expressing the Biblical truth about the rainbow and God’s intent in creating it. Despite the LGBTQ-plus-all-the-letters attempts to co-opt the symbol as their own, it doesn’t belong to them. This quiet stand wasn’t even “in your face,” but as a favorite songwriter of mine wrote, “There’s no insult like the truth.”

Players on MLB Partner Team Refuse to Wear Pride Jersey, Forcing a Forfeit of Pride Night Game
The final home stand before the All-Star Break saw an average reported attendance per game of 33,413 fans — the team hosted the Toronto Blue Jays for three games and the division-rival Colorado Rockies for four of them.
That attendance is down 5% to 7% since the Giants’ complete mishandling of the team’s Pride Night — meant to welcome the LGBTQ community to Oracle Park — went upside down with a demonstration by anti-gay players and a PR nightmare.
The Giants have refunded tickets for at least one gay fan, given the team’s demonstration against the LGBTQ community on Pride Night.
Oh, the horror! No matter how they try to paint this, the fault lies with MLB commissioner Rob Manfred and the Giants franchise, who wanted to make an example of the Christian players. While the players may have gotten backlash and protests from the Pride lobby (rinse, repeat), it was Manfred and the Giants franchise that received warnings and recriminations from Christians and other religious liberty groups, as well as from Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) and Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights Harmeet Dhillon.

In a follow-up to this story, Harmeet Dhillon, the DOJ’s Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights, has now entered the chat, informing Manfred and the MLB that they now face a civil rights probe, with the matter being referred to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
Manfred and his cohorts were not only complicit in religious discrimination, but they created a clear double standard. Black Lives Matter patches are just fine, but Bible verses on hats? Beyond the pale.
They were shortsighted and bigoted, but they won’t admit that. The performative Pride displays may incorporate ball games for the month of June, but you have an entire three months of the season left, where Christians, Jews, and other religious families would have liked to go and enjoy baseball, without the forced genuflecting to one particular lifestyle above all others.
Trust me, these people made note of how Manfred and the Giants franchise treated their Christian players, and how they bungled the press. So, religious people and families are probably the ones expressing the lion’s share of the distaste and mounting their protests by staying at home and watching on TV. The pro-Pride cult wouldn’t make that much of a dent.
No matter how you look at it, attendance at San Francisco Giants games is down. Whether you compare this final homestand before the All-Star break to earlier this season or last season, in all cases the team wasn’t very good. They’re fourth in the NL West this year, and they were only slightly better last year.
Across MLB, game attendance so far this season is up over 1%, according to Sports Business Journal.
The Giants are still in the top 10 for game attendance this season. Sports Business Journal has the team ranked sixth for per-game attendance.
Yet with the continuing mistrust of the organization so many fans are showing across the Bay Area, it will be interesting to see if the Giants’ attendance drop continues.
Not too many people will pay money to be dismissed, marginalized, and insulted. This drop in attendance shows that MLB and the Giants were on the wrong side of history, and while trying to bend over backwards for one market, they royally pissed off several others.
