President Trump Invites Heroic Teen Lifeguard For White House Visit And ‘High Civilian Honor’ | JP
Social media has been flooded with accounts of the 16-year-old lifeguard seen bravely rescuing a younger child from rough waters off the coast of California late last month.
Even President Donald Trump took note, praising the teen’s actions and extending a White House invitation.
As the New York Post reported:
The family of 16-year-old Ryder Williams has been contacted by President Donald Trump’s staff after the commander-in-chief vowed to honor the rookie rescuer who saved a drowning 10-year-old boy from pounding surf.
“The White House has contacted us but there’s been no official date or time,” Ryder’s father, retired firefighter Shane Williams, 54, told The California Post on Saturday.
Trump announced the invitation after video of Ryder’s dramatic rescue at Seabright Beach went viral, saying he plans to welcome the teen and his family to Washington, DC, and personally present him with a high civilian honor for his heroism.

Fox News previously reported:
“We’re going to bring this heroic young man, and his family, into the White House with, perhaps, the boy he saved, to give him a High Civilian Honor. Very brave, he deserves it!” Trump said in a post on X.
The California State Parks told Fox News Digital that Williams was on a “safety contact at Seabright State Beach when they observed a child lose his balance and get knocked down by a wave” at 3:32 p.m. on Saturday.
“The child was swept into the ocean approximately 15 yards offshore and a State Parks lifeguard made contact with the victim until another lifeguard entered the water to assist. “
The juvenile was successfully pulled from the ocean with no serious injuries and was released to his parents, the agency said.
The Santa Cruz State Lifeguard Association (SCSLA) also told Fox News Digital that its lifeguard did an “excellent job” during the rescue, praising him for saving a life.
And here’s a clip of remarks from the rescued 10-year-old boy’s father:
“There’s no way I could ever repay him.”
