Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro Launches Attack on Parental Rights
Just when we thought Democrat Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro could not go any farther in his promotion of abortion, his administration surprised us with yet another attempt to expand it.
The effort comes in the form of a 502-page proposed rule change at the Pennsylvania Department of Health (DOH). The change ostensibly deals with contact tracing for infectious diseases, but it also talks about partner services which could include reproductive health, code language for abortion.
What the DOH is proposing is that bureaucrats could do into schools and speak with students without their parents’ permission or knowledge. During these talks, teen girls could be pressured into having abortions. While Pennsylvania does require parental consent for abortion, it can be circumvented through judicial bypass, where a minor girl goes before a judge to seek the go-ahead to have an abortion without her parent’s OK.

The complicated proposed rule change could also mean that pregnancy centers which provide loving support to pregnant women in difficult circumstances could be forced to refer for abortions. This would directly contradict the mission of these centers, which offer alternatives to abortion in a supportive, compassionate atmosphere.

Shapiro is an extremist when it comes to the issue of abortion–so much so that he would violate parental rights in order to promote it. But if enough people object, we can turn back this proposed rule change and protect teen girls and pregnancy centers in the process.
