JUST IN: Trump Abruptly Leaves Camp David, Travels To White House
President Donald Trump is returning to the White House from Camp David on Saturday evening, one day earlier than originally scheduled. White House pool reporters noted that the schedule change was rather abrupt.
A White House press pool report issued at 6:29 pm Eastern Time by Joey Garrison of USA Today stated that the administration had updated the president’s schedule. Trump is set to travel from the presidential retreat in Maryland’s Catoctin Mountains via Marine One, where he will land at the Elipse in Washington D.C.
The press pool was instructed to gather at 7 pm Eastern Time.
A subsequent pool report at 8:00 pm Eastern Time from Francesca Chambers of USA Today confirmed that reporters had assembled at the Ellipse and were awaiting the president’s arrival. The report added that no information had been provided on the reason for the change.

Trump had previously arrived at Camp David on Friday evening after leaving Sterling, Virginia. He had departed the White House earlier Friday, traveled to Sterling for a MAGA Inc. meeting — the president’s behemoth SuperPAC for the 2026 midterm elections — and continued to the retreat following dinner.
The original weekend guidance, which was released on September 17, listed closed-press executive time at Camp David on Saturday and Sunday, with a Sunday return that included a stop in Sterling before arriving at the White House.
On Saturday morning, a NORAD F-16 intercepted a general aviation aircraft that entered restricted airspace over Thurmont, Maryland, near Camp David at approximately 7:50 am The jet deployed flares to signal the pilot and escorted the plane out of the zone. Officials reported no injuries, damage, or indication that the aircraft posed a security threat.
Camp David has a permanent no-fly zone, with additional temporary restrictions in effect when the president is present.
The schedule adjustment coincides with statements from Iranian officials. Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, told Al Jazeera that Tehran had sent conditions to Washington through Qatari mediators aimed at ending the ongoing war. Rezaei listed an end to fighting on all fronts, release of frozen Iranian funds, and termination of the U.S. naval blockade among the terms.
He said Iran was awaiting a response from Trump. JP and other outlets reported that Iranian statements have referenced seven conditions in total, though the full list has not been publicly detailed. Qatar and Pakistan have been serving as mediators since a prior memorandum of understanding expired.
Separately, U.S. diplomatic missions in Iraq, Bahrain, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Qatar, Lebanon, Kuwait, and Jordan issued security alerts on September 19. The notices cited fighting between Houthi forces and Saudi Arabia, including attacks affecting civilian airports, and warned of possible rapid escalation, flight disruptions, and risks to U.S. interests. American citizens were advised to exercise heightened vigilance and monitor travel conditions.
Trump is scheduled to participate in the United Nations General Assembly in New York next week, including planned discussions with Gulf leaders. The White House has not issued a public statement explaining the decision to shorten the Camp David stay as of this report.
