The Justice Department has removed longtime Miami federal prosecutor Maria Medetis Long from leading the criminal investigation into former CIA Director John Brennan after she refused to accelerate charges.

Medetis Long informed attorneys tied to the case on Friday that she was no longer overseeing the probe. Recent meetings between DOJ officials and prosecutors had officials pushing for faster action after being told charges could still be months away, which the officials told Quiñones was not acceptable.

Medetis Long previously served on the prosecution team that secured a life sentence against the would-be assassin who targeted Trump at his West Palm Beach golf course.
