Veteran soap opera actor Robert Kelker-Kelly, best known for playing Bo Brady on “Days of Our Lives,” has died at 62.

The Missouri medical examiner confirmed that Kelker-Kelly died Oct. 3. His official cause of death has not yet been released.

Kelker-Kelly broke into daytime television in 1987 when he joined “Another World” as Sam Fowler.

He later landed one of the most recognizable roles in soap opera history, taking over as Bo Brady on “Days of Our Lives” in 1992 after Peter Reckell left the part.

Kelker-Kelly remained on the NBC soap until 1995, appearing opposite Kristian Alfonso’s Hope Brady and Lisa Rinna’s Billie Reed before Reckell returned to the role.

His run on the series made him a familiar face to millions of daytime television viewers and cemented his place in the long-running show’s history.

Kelker-Kelly later appeared on “General Hospital” as Stavros Cassadine, adding another major soap opera credit to his career.

Outside Hollywood, he also worked professionally as a pilot.

His name returned to the headlines earlier this year after Rinna discussed their difficult working relationship in her memoir.

Rinna alleged Kelker-Kelly was verbally abusive, manipulative and played mind games with her while the two worked together on “Days of Our Lives.”

She also claimed his abrupt departure from the soap led NBC to provide security for her and Alfonso for several weeks.

Kelker-Kelly did not publicly respond to those allegations.

New details released after news of his death indicated that emergency crews were called to his Missouri home after he complained of chest pain and became unresponsive.

Police said CPR was already underway when officers and paramedics were dispatched, but attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.

Authorities said there was nothing suspicious at the scene and that the circumstances appeared consistent with a medical event.

An official cause of death, however, has not yet been announced.

Kelker-Kelly’s career stretched across some of daytime television’s biggest franchises, from “Another World” to “Days of Our Lives” and “General Hospital.”

He was 62.
