Pleasure Behar Flips, Tells JD Vance To Run For President

Vice President JD Vance received praise from an unlikely source this week after longtime The View co-host Joy Behar revealed that she encouraged him to consider a future run for president following his appearance on the ABC daytime talk show.

Behar, one of Vance’s most outspoken critics in the media, made the surprising admission during an episode of Behind the Table, The View’s companion podcast. The revelation came after co-hosts discussed Vance’s recent appearance on the program, where he sparred with panelists on a range of political issues while also displaying a lighter side that appeared to leave an impression on some of the hosts.

The conversation took an unexpected turn when Behar was reminded of a backstage exchange she had with the vice president during a commercial break.

“I think that even though for a Republican, mind you, I’m not a Republican,” Behar said. “I don’t mind a Republican on the city level because it needs a little discipline. But on the national level, I want somebody with a good heart. And those are more in the Democratic Party, in my opinion.”

Despite her disagreement with Republican policies, Behar suggested that Vance made a favorable personal impression during his visit. The veteran television personality said that she was not abandoning her political beliefs or signaling support for the Republican Party. However, she acknowledged that Vance appeared more personable than she had expected based on his public image.

“Truthfully, as I said to you in the beginning of this conversation, I don’t think that he’s a bad guy,” she explained. Behar then floated the possibility of Vance competing in a future presidential race, specifically mentioning California Governor Gavin Newsom as a potential Democratic opponent.

“So if he runs against, say, Gavin Newsom, that will be an interesting debate to see those two because they’re both intelligent,” she said.

The comments quickly attracted attention online given Behar’s long history of criticizing both Vance and President Donald Trump. Her remarks represented a rare moment of bipartisan praise on a program that has frequently clashed with Republican elected officials.

Vance later joked about the experience during subsequent media appearances. The vice president said he had expected the hosts of The View to be “absolutely vicious” but found them only “a little bit vicious.”

He also revealed that Behar offered additional compliments behind the scenes, telling him that he was “pretty good for a Republican.” While there is no indication that Vance is actively considering a presidential campaign, Behar’s comments underscore the growing attention surrounding the vice president’s political future.

As one of the most prominent figures in the Trump administration and a favorite among many conservative voters, Vance is already widely viewed as a potential contender for the Republican nomination whenever Trump eventually leaves the political stage. For now, however, the most surprising headline may be that one of daytime television’s fiercest liberal voices found herself encouraging JD Vance to aim even higher.
