Trump announces search for new lawyers to appeal ‘ridiculous’ $83M E. Jean Carroll ruling

After a jury decided that E. Jean Carroll would be awarded millions of dollars in a defamation suit, former President Donald Trump vowed to appeal.

He followed up with a post on Truth Social saying he is in search of the legal team that will take on “the defamation Sham” brought against him by the writer who is supposed to collect $83.3 million from the Republican presidential candidate.

“I am in the process, along with my team, of interviewing various law firms to represent me in an Appeal of one of the most ridiculous and unfair Witch Hunts our Country has ever seen – The defamation Sham presided over by a Clinton appointed, highly partisan, Trump Hating Judge, Lewis Kaplan, who was, together with certain other Radical Left Democrat Judges, one of the most partisan and out of control activists that I have ever appeared before,” Trump wrote in the Tuesday post.

“He was a ‘bully’ who demanded two trials, rather than one, denied me Due Process, would not allow me to put forth vital evidence (of which there was much!), and only allowed me to be on the witness stand for minutes, telling my lawyer what to ask, and telling me to only give one word answers, as his wife and friends sat in cordoned off front row seats watching with glee,” the former president railed.

“This entire HOAX is a disgrace to our American System of Justice. Any lawyer who takes a TRUMP CASE is either ‘CRAZY,’ or a TRUE AMERICAN PATRIOT. I will make my decision soon!” he asserted.

It was not clear if Alina Habba, the attorney who represented Trump in the Carroll case, would be part of this next phase. However, the Washington Examiner noted that “using news lawyers who are qualified to work in the appellate courts is normal practice.”

“I’m so proud to stand with President Trump. But I am not proud to stand with what I saw in that courtroom,” Habba told reporters following the verdict. “And that is why I stand with Trump. That is why so many Americans are so proud that he is running again, and so excited to run to the ballot box.”

Trump has denied the allegations Carroll made against him in both lawsuits claiming he defamed her after she accused him of raping her in a department store decades ago.

Meanwhile, the columnist took a victory lap on several media outlets after the court’s decision, gloating about defeating Trump while vowing to use the millions from the former president to “cause him pain.”

In one appearance on MSNBC, Carroll prompted backlash for her gleeful ideas of a shopping spree with Rachel Maddow.

“This is the kind of clip that could win Trump the election,” journalist Megyn Kelly observed.
