These Four Abortion Amendments Need Pro-Life Votes
We are now only days away from the 2026 midterm elections, and life is once again on the ballot.
During election cycles, it is always our goal at Life Issues Institute to bring clarity through education.

Four states face important ballot measures that will change the legal landscape for the unborn. Three states face abortion expansions, while one state has the opportunity to protect life.
- Idaho: Proposition 1 – A YES vote would establish a legal right to abortion and remove existing pro-life protections, allowing abortions after fetal viability in certain circumstances. A NO vote would preserve existing pro-life protections.
- Nevada: Question 6 – Having passed in 2024, this measure must pass again to amend the state constitution. A YES vote would enshrine a constitutional right to abortion, including abortion until birth under certain circumstances. A NO vote would prevent this constitutional change but would not outlaw abortion under existing state law.
- Virginia: Question 1 – A YES vote would establish a constitutional right to abortion, including abortion until birth through an undefined “health” loophole. It would also protect abortionists from punishment for performing abortions. A NO vote would reject the constitutional amendment and prevent this expansion of abortion.
- Missouri: Amendment 3 – This is the ONLY state where the pro-life movement is on the offense rather than the defense. A YES vote would repeal the constitutional right to abortion established in 2024, restore pro-life protections, and protect children from gender-transition surgeries. A NO vote would leave the constitutional right to abortion in place.
In addition, control of Congress hangs in the balance.
A large group of House Democrats recently released their 100-hour plan, outlining their legislative objectives should they win. At the top of the list is a commitment to:
“Reestablish a federal right to abortion care and end restrictions that prevent people covered through federal health programs from receiving abortion coverage.”
The official Republican Party platform states:
“We proudly stand for families and Life. We believe that the 14th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States guarantees that no person can be denied Life or Liberty without Due Process, and that the States are, therefore, free to pass Laws protecting those Rights. After 51 years . . . that power has been given to the States and to a vote of the People. We will oppose Late Term Abortion, while supporting mothers and policies that advance Prenatal Care, access to Birth Control, and IVF (fertility treatments).” (p. 20)
The official Democratic Party platform states:
“[Democrats are committed to] protecting access to abortion, including by creating a new path for pharmacies to dispense FDA-approved medication abortion and defending access in court. It is expanding reproductive health care for service members, veterans, and their family members.” (p. 49)
It also states:
“Democrats are committed to restoring the reproductive rights Trump ripped away. With a Democratic Congress, we will pass national legislation to make Roe the law of the land again. We will strengthen access to contraception so every woman who needs it is able to get and afford it. We will protect a woman’s right to access IVF. We will repeal the Hyde Amendment. [We] will continue to support access to FDA-approved medication abortion, appoint leaders at the FDA who respect science, and appoint judges who uphold fundamental freedoms.” (p. 50)

Wherever you are, life will be on your ballot this year.
We strongly encourage you to vote. Bring your friends, family members, and fellow church community members along with you as well.
