Steve Burton’s ex-wife, Sheree Burton, is firing back at claims she is alienating the soap star from his daughter Brooklyn following the former couple’s 2022 divorce.

In court documents obtained by Us on Tuesday, August 11, Sheree, 49, requested a judge allow her to move to Tennessee from California, despite Steve’s relocation back to the west coast in recent months.

Sheree alleged in the August 6 filing that their 12-year-old daughter, Brooklyn, “has her own iPad,” which she said “enables her to communicate with father freely via calls, texts and Facetime.”

“Despite father’s claims, she had this same access previously and was not restricted from father,” Sheree declared in the docs.

Steve Burton and his ex-wife, Sheree Burton, have been trading jabs via court documents while fighting over custody of their youngest child. Sheree accused the soap opera star, 54, of being unrelenting in his messages about their daughter Brooklyn, according to a recent filing obtained by In Touch. (The exes share three children: Makena, Jack […]

Sheree acknowledged that she and Steve — who also share adult children Makena, 22, and Jack, 20 — have “poor” communication.

However, she noted the General Hospital star’s messages are allegedly “full of accusations that do not match the reality of the situation such as accusing mother of alienation because she is following the orders he agreed to.”

According to Sheree — who was married to Steve for 23 years before their 2022 split — he signed a “new custody schedule” before deciding to move to Tennessee in February. (The former spouses’ current order gives Steve, 56, time with Brooklyn “one weekend a month when school resumes” and previously entailed him seeing his child once a month while living in separate states.)

Sheree alleged in the August filing that the actor’s relocation was the “second time he moved cross country without Brooklyn,” explaining that she signed a “stipulation” she thought was in her daughter’s “best interest.”

The aforementioned stipulation allowed for Brooklyn to have “frequent and continuing contact” with Steve while she enjoyed her primary residence with Sheree in Orange County, California.

According to the docs, Steve and Sheree “disagreed” over the stipulation details, which Sheree claimed led Steve to go back to court.

Steve Burton’s ex-wife, Sheree Burton, revealed the General Hospital star’s alleged six-figure monthly income in their fight over custody, Journalposts can exclusively report. Back in April, Sheree demanded the soap star, 54, pay her $25,000 to help cover the bills racked up fighting Steve in court. The request was recently dropped, according to Steve’s […]

Around the time that the exes started mediation, Steve “announced he and his family were moving back to California,” which he allegedly said was to be “near Brooklyn.”

Sheree noted in her filing that she “agreed” to Steve’s requests for time with his daughter over the summer, but claimed that the Young and the Restless actor’s plans on his move “continued to change.”

She further alleged that Steve “does not yet have a stable residence in California,” which Sheree told the judge should help her case as Brooklyn’s primary caretaker.

Sheree argued that although her own proposed move to Tennessee “would be a change” for Brooklyn, she claimed she is the “stable parent and always has been.”

Sheree — who also shares two daughters with husband Jason Amador — added that Brooklyn shouldn’t be “ordered” to stay in California where her primary care would fall to her stepmother, Michelle Lundstrom. (Steve married Lundstrom, 44, in May 2025.)

According to the filing, Sheree “believes it more likely that [Steve] would also return to Tennessee, rendering this RFO moot as well.”

Sheree further claimed that Steve is complicating her desire to move to Tennessee amid his own “unstable living decisions.”

Sheree’s attorney alleged in the filing, “She was hoping he would be honest and reasonable, but in the absence of that coparenting, she is turning to the courts.”
