A Qatari delegation has traveled to Iran for talks conducted in coordination with United States officials in an effort to reinforce Doha’s role as a mediator following the recent escalation in Gulf tensions, according to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency.

Tasnim reported the visit comes after Qatari accusations against Iran over an incident in the Strait of Hormuz and subsequent U.S. strikes on Iranian military and civilian targets.

A source familiar with the matter told JP that Qatari negotiators are meeting with Iranian officials to help de-escalate tensions and lay the groundwork for broader negotiations.
