NEW: Trump says Fani Willis went after him to get her ‘lover much more money’

2024 GOP frontrunner Donald Trump responded to court filings in which Fulton County DA Fani Willis, who is prosecuting Trump and other co-defendants in the Georgia RICO case, admitted to having a “personal relationship” with the special prosecutor hired to lead the case, Nathan Wade.

That relationship is now under scrutiny, with a hearing set for this month on whether Willis and Wade should be disqualified from the Georgia case.

“Fani Willis, the DA of Fulton County, just admitted to having a sexual relationship with the Prosecutor she, in consultation with the White House and DOJ, appointed to ‘GET PRESIDENT DONALD J TRUMP,'” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“By going after the most high level person, and the Republican Nominee, she was able to get her ‘lover’ much more money, almost a Million Dollars, than she would be able to get for the prosecution of any other person or individual. THAT MEANS THAT THIS SCAM IS TOTALLY DISCREDITED & OVER!”

In a court filing on Friday, Willis wrote, “To be absolutely clear, the personal relationship between Special Prosecutor Wade and District Attorney Willis has never involved direct or indirect financial benefit to District Attorney Willis.”

“In 2022, District Attorney Willis and I developed a personal relationship in addition to our professional association and friendship,” Wade wrote in an affidavit included as an exhibit.

“Although District Attorney Willis and Special Prosecutor Wade have been professional associates and friends since 2019, there was no personal relationship between them in November 2021 at the time of Special Prosecutor Wade’s appointment,” the court documents stated.
