Massive Trove Of GOP Voters’ Credit Card Data Breached In Biden DOJ Probe

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-IA) on Wednesday released a memo detailing findings from his review of materials related to former special counsel Jack Smith’s Arctic Frost investigation. The probe, which was initiated by the Department of Justice in 2022 under the Biden Administration, functioned as an open-ended “fishing expedition” into President Donald Trump, as well as his allies and supporters.

According to the memo, based on whistleblower disclosures and subpoena returns, Smith’s special counsel office and the Justice Department obtained spreadsheets containing information on Republican campaign donors, supporters, and detailed personal voter data. The records covered over 639,000 individuals at minimum.

Of those entries, more than 148,000 were identified as donors, with contributions generally consisting of small-dollar amounts, including some as low as one dollar and most under 1,000 dollars.

The data fields included names, dates of birth, physical addresses spanning most states and U.S. territories. Data collected included email addresses, registered Republican status, congressional and state legislative districts, occupations and places of employment, donation amounts, credit card information and donor analysis data such as distinctions between one-time and recurring contributions.

The records spanned contributions and related information from 2005 to 2021. Grassley described this timeframe as well outside the special counsel’s stated scope of review.

The memo further noted that Smith’s team sought and obtained information on sales of red MAGA hats and other Trump campaign memorabilia. This included individual purchaser names and shipping addresses for home delivery, along with a catalog of campaign products such as red hats, T-shirts, mugs, and door mats.

Grassley stated that these records were shared with FBI agents and illustrated the collection of materials he characterized as extensive and personally invasive.

“This update shows that Jack Smith and the Biden Justice Department collected incredibly invasive donor data – and voter data – beyond what could conceivably be necessary for Smith or his team to fulfill the Special Counsel’s mandate. The new findings further corroborate that Smith and his partisan team aimed to map out the entire Republican Party apparatus,” Grassley wrote in the memo.

“I again call on my Democratic colleagues to join my oversight work instead of trying to defend Smith and sweep his abuse of authority under the rug.”

The disclosure builds on an earlier release in which Grassley reported that Smith’s team collected checks from nearly 5,000 individuals across all 50 states who donated to Trump and Trump-aligned Republican entities. At a September 29, Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, Grassley questioned Smith on whether the special counsel operation obtained donor data, including financial information.

“Yes. We acquired financial information. As I sit here right now, I cannot recite to you every subpoena we issued. I can tell you why we issued subpoenas. And it was to conduct a criminal investigation of one of the most serious crimes that’s ever happened in our nation’s history. I had a duty to collect facts,” Smith answered.

Grassley’s ongoing review has previously examined other aspects of the probe, including records related to phone data and communications involving members of Congress.
