Asked for a yes, no, or maybe, the Kentucky congressman refused to close the door on a White House bid—and repeated the answer he gave after filing 2028 House paperwork.
Thomas Massie says he is done with Congress. When asked what comes next, the Kentucky Republican left open a 2028 run for president.
In a video posted on Facebook, Massie said he has spent 14 years in the “clown game” and believes a person can sometimes do more outside Congress than inside it. He said he would rather support a presidential candidate he believed in—or serve as a cabinet official—but added that he does not see such a candidate now.
Massie said he “won’t run for Congress.”
He said he does not yet know what he will do next. But after being pressed on a presidential bid, Massie said, “I won’t rule it out.”
Massie made the same point in May, when he said he had filed 2028 paperwork for a House race but had made no final decision about which federal office to seek, NBC News reported.
