Great New Ken Paxton Ad: Talarico Too Weird and Radical for Texas

0

Texas Senate candidate and current Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has put out a new campaign ad with a powerful message aimed at his opponent: James Talarico is too weird for Texas. It’s an effective ad because James Talarico is too weird and too radical for Texas. There’s a compelling argument to be made that he’s too weird and too radical for any elected office, anywhere in the United States.

Watch:

My friend and Townhall colleague Jeff Charles notes of this campaign ad:

Talarico has made trans-identified children a centerpiece of his political career. In fact, he couldn’t stop talking about it — until he realized it might affect his Senate campaign. He has walked back some of his comments in an effort to appear like a more moderate figure.

Sorry, Mr. Talarico, but the internet is forever, and leopards don’t change their spots that quickly and that completely. Not by a long shot. And James Talarico is no leopard, mind you; he’s more of a ferret. But the metaphor still applies.

Paxton’s ad opens with several all-too-familiar clips of girls being seriously injured by boys and men, claiming to be “transgender,” and who were allowed to play on girls’ teams. Then, Talarico is shown opining:

But some things are more important than perfectly fair competition in sports.

No. Not only no but heck no. In sports, fairness is the only thing that matters, and allowing boys and men to compete on girls’ and women’s team is something that isn’t just wrong in some cases; it’s a thing that is wrong in essence. Boys and men have too many inherent physical advantages; it’s not only unfair, but it’s also unethical and contradictory to reality.

And, later, in what may well be the weirdest thing he has ever said:

Modern science, obviously, recognizes that there are many more than two biological sexes. In fact, there are six.

No, there are two. Male and female. Aside from a few very rare and almost always debilitating genetic disorders, there are males, defined by having an X and a Y chromosome in the 23rd pairing, and there are females, defined by having two X chromosomes in the 23rd pairing. That’s it. Two sexes. That’s all. We do not and should not base any policy statements or agendas on the tiny proportion of the unfortunate people who suffer from one of those genetic disorders, and we sure should not decide policy in things like school sports to give an unreasonable advantage to any boy or man who claims to be “transgender” and demands to be placed on a girl’s or woman’s team.

Ken Paxton is right. James Talarico is too weird for Texas. He’s too weird and too radical to hold elected office, although Portland, Oregon might like him. But Texas?

James Talarico is just plain too weird, and his own words betray him.

The late, great Rush Limbaugh was fond of pointing out that a “gaffe” for a liberal is when they accidentally say what they really think. The problem James Talarico has isn’t that he has too long a history of saying what he really thinks, and now it’s being used against him. Good.

Editor’s Note: The 2026 Midterms will determine the fate of President Trump’s America First agenda. Republicans must maintain control of both chambers of Congress.
