Feds subpoena Ilhan Omar’s sister, relatives in investigation into lawmaker’s immigration history: report

Sahra Noor previously incorporated a $20 million USAID-backed company with the same address of people tied to the fraudulent Feeding Our Futures scheme.

Federal authorities investigating Ilhan Omar have issued subpoenas to her relatives “for evidence of fraud and false statements in immigration paperwork,” The New York Times reported. Her sister, Sahra Noor, and at least one other member of her family were subpoenaed as part of the probe.

Noor, who incorporated a $20 million USAID-backed company with the same address of fraudsters tied to the Feeding Our Futures scheme, did not reply to the New York Times when reporters asked about the subpoena.

On Monday, Omar’s Washington, DC home was raided as part of an investigation into her immigration background. The investigation involves the year of her birth which is at issue for the legality of her naturalization in 2000. She had said that she was 17 at the time that her father became a citizen, thereby gaining citizenship through him.

But if she was 18, as is indicated by a birth date change request made by her staffers following her election to Congress, then she would not have been automatically naturalized. While the statute of limitations would have run out on fraudulent naturalization paperwork, there could be additional crimes if she continued to use a fraudulent birth date.

It was revealed earlier this year that Omar’s sister Noor registered her consulting company to the same addresses of those involved in the fraudulent Feeding Our Future scam, which saw primarily Somali Americans falsifying records to abscond with funds intended for poor and needy children. Her consultation company has claimed to focus on health issues in Africa and her website states that she “secured more than $20 million in funding for health initiatives” and that some of this funding has been backed by USAID.

Noor stated on her LinkedIn that she was the CEO of “People’s Center Clinics & Services” from 2014 to 2018. The 2017 capital budget that was approved by Minnesota’s state legislature included $2.2 million for the clinic, which Omar later bragged about getting for the clinic.

Omar and her husband third husband Tim Mynett are also under investigation by DC US Attorney Jeanine Pirro over their finances.
