David Beasley Blasted for Endorsing Radical Abortion Activist Annie Andrews
The South Carolina Citizens for Life Committee is deeply disappointed by former Governor David Beasley’s decision to endorse pro-abortion Annie Andrews for the United States Senate.
Governor Beasley has a long history of public service, and we respect his desire to bring people together in a time of bitter political division. But unity cannot come at the expense of the most fundamental human right — the right to life
Annie Andrews has made her position on abortion unmistakably clear. She has publicly pledged to restore Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that resulted in the deaths of more than 65 million unborn children.

“Governor Beasley has devoted much of his public life to humanitarian causes defending the dignity of vulnerable people around the world,” said Holly Gatling, executive director and spokesperson for SCCLC. “How, then, can he endorse a candidate whose stated political agenda supports killing millions of future unborn children, including those here in South Carolina?”
It is unthinkable for Governor Beasley, a former pro-life advocate, to join Planned Parenthood and the National Abortion Rights Action League (now called Reproductive Freedom for All) in endorsing Andrews.
Republican Darline Graham is solidly pro-life and endorsed by National Right to Life and SCCL Federal Life PAC.

ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES
Andrews’ election would place another vote in the Senate in support of codifying Roe into federal law. Such legislation could undermine South Carolina’s hard-won protections for unborn children and limit the authority returned to our elected state lawmakers by the Supreme Court’s historic Dobbs decision.
The potential consequences of pro-abortion Andrews’ support for reinstating Roe include:
- Making abortion legal up to birth in all 50 states.
- Funding abortion with taxpayer dollars.
- Allowing abortion as a method of birth control.
- Allowing the savage method of partial-birth abortion that South Carolina outlawed in 1997 and Governor Beasley personally signed into law.
- Allowing abortion facilities to grind up aborted babies’ bodies in common sink disposals.
A United States senator also votes on federal judicial nominations and legislation affecting abortion policy, taxpayer funding, and the regulation of abortion-inducing drugs. These decisions have profound consequences for unborn children and their mothers.
South Carolina has worked for decades to build a culture of life that welcomes unborn children, supports women facing difficult pregnancies, and protects the most vulnerable members of our human family.
These protections matter. The lives of unborn children matter. And the responsibility of our elected officials to protect innocent human life matters.
When Governor Beasley speaks of putting people ahead of politics, he forgets the most vulnerable among us — the unborn members of our human family.
There can be no unity when the fundamental right to life is violated.
We disagree with Governor Beasley’s endorsement because the right to life is not a secondary issue. It is the foundation upon which every other human right rests.
South Carolina’s unborn children deserve a voice in Washington, not another vote to dismantle the laws that protect them.
