Conservative radio host Chris Stigall has defeated Democrat opponent Josh Smead and Libertarian Andy Maidment in the race to replace retiring Rep. Sam Graves in Missouri’s 6th Congressional District seat.

With over 95 percent of the vote counted as of Wednesday afternoon, Stigall had received 59 percent of the vote to Smead’s 39 percent and Maidment’s 2 percent.

Stigall, who hosted radio shows airing both in Philadelphia and Kansas City, announced in March that he was stepping away to run for office. He said in an announcement, “On this 250th anniversary of our great country this year, I’ve decided it’s time to join in the fight to fight for what made this country so great 250 years ago. It’s time to put up or shut up. President Trump is going to need all the reinforcements he can get in Washington, and that’s why I’ve decided I’m going to leave my show.”

Stigall ran on an agenda that was pro-Second Amendment and pro-life, and vowed to strengthen rural healthcare, cut taxes, support farmers, and protect elections.

He received a number of high-profile endorsements, including Senator Eric Schmitt, outgoing Rep. Graves, Rep. Jim Jordan, Missouri’s attorney general, and organizations such as Moms for America Action and CPAC.

Stigall told Spectrum News in August after winning the Republican primary, “President Trump’s vision for the future is not the easiest path, but it’s the right one and the necessary one. Talking about borders, sealed law enforcement, engaged and well-funded support, these things weren’t happening quite frankly. He’s a different kind of guy, he sees things in pretty commonsense ways, apolitical ways, and I’ve supported his agenda for the last three elections, and I’m eager to be a source for him in the House.”

He spoke on farmers in the state, defending Trump’s tariff policies. “It is tough, and the thing that I know about farmers is, while they do know and feel these tariffs, are a very real hit, they also know that for decades they have been exploited by other countries that have been selling their goods on the cheap to us. President Trump is the first president, in a very long time, who came in and said, this isn’t right. He’s leveling the playing field…. and I will be a help in trying to level that playing field, and in the short, that may cause some discomfort, but I really believe this tariff policy is working, and we will see this level out for farmers in the future.”
