Child Drowning in Tel Aviv Park: Safety and Prevention | JP

A seven-year-old boy died Friday after drowning in a lake at a park in southern Tel Aviv. Emergency medical teams from Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel’s national emergency medical service, pulled the child from the water unconscious and without vital signs. Paramedics and EMTs administered emergency treatment at the scene and rushed him to Ichilov Hospital while performing continuous resuscitation efforts. Despite their attempts, medical staff at the hospital later pronounced the boy dead. MDA paramedic Simcha Simanduyev, emergency medical technician Oral Toledano from MDA’s motorcycle unit, and EMT Georgi Avtisian described the response. “We received a report about a child missing in a body of water,” they said. “We arrived at the scene with a large deployment of ambulances, motorcycles, and rapid response vehicles. During the search, the boy was brought to us unconscious, with no pulse and not breathing.” The responders immediately began resuscitation procedures. “We started performing CPR, which included chest compressions, ventilation, and administering medications,” they explained. “We loaded him into an MDA intensive care ambulance and evacuated him to the trauma room in critical condition.”
