CEO John Ternus’ Apple event teaser hints at new camera feature
In spite of the “surprise” in the event’s name, there seem to be very few potential shocks in store, considering the unprecedented number of leaks that have heralded the launch.
We know which products are expected to debut, most of their specifications and even have a good idea of their price points.
One of the last few surprises was the name of the all-new foldable iPhone – Apple’s first – which was first thought to be the iPhone Fold, and later the iPhone Ultra. But that was spoiled earlier today, when Mark Gurman announced in a Bloomberg article that it’ll be called the iPhone Duo.
Now even new CEO John Ternus has gotten in on the action with a post on X. It’s a looping video showing a wide beam of light narrowing down into a spotlight.
Our best guess is that he’s teasing the inclusion of variable aperture technology in the new iPhone models.
This technology will allow the iPhone camera to vary the size of the opening that lets light reach the sensor. Most smartphones only have a fixed aperture and rely on software to compensate for low light or bright conditions. This would bring the iPhone closer to DSLR standards and would give real control over exposure and focus. iPhone users could take professional-quality shots for the first time.
