The Issue: Accusations against The Southern Poverty Law Center for funding “informant” hate-group leaders.
The Southern Poverty Law Center is the paradigmatic example of a victim of its own success (“Ku Klux ‘scam’ by SPLC,” April 23).
Through relentless civil litigation in the late 20th century, it essentially destroyed the Ku Klux Klan as it was at the time, winning trial after trial with monetary jury awards.
However, in doing so, it also destroyed the SPLC’s reason for being. Without that particular monster, it had no one left to fight and no evil opponent to point to in its fundraising efforts. If the hate groups die, so does the SPLC.

Donating $3 million for informants’ fees to far-right hate groups is equivalent to the Anti-Defamation League donating funds to Hamas.
It must return the millions it received from deceived donors. It should also lose its tax-exempt status and be re-named as the Southern Poverty Lawless Center.

I do not understand why The Post is so quick to assume the worst about the Southern Poverty Law Center. There is a long tradition of anti-hate groups like the Anti-Defamation League, the American Jewish Committee and the Anti-Nazi League using paid informants. The SPLC is following that tradition.

Long hailed as a righteous group fighting racism, antisemitism and other hatred, the SPLC has, in truth, been fomenting hatred as a means to raise funds, which it would then deploy to fight said hatred.
In fact, the explosion of white-on-black grievances a few years back focused on Charlottesville, a town with few such issues. But the SPLC raged against racism there, raising over $50 million for the cause.
Yet one voice sounds off in their defense: Sen. Chuck Schumer. He believes all the charges are made up by President Trump.

Paying millions in “‘informants’ fees” to assist in the propagation of more hate is completely consistent with the left’s duplicity and dishonesty.
If no real victims exist, progressives create them. Paying racists to act like racists to raise money for a non-profit underscores the depth of liberal hypocrisy.

The Issue: A redistricting measure that would likely give Dems 10 of Virginia’s 11 congressional seats.
By a narrow margin, Virginia voters agreed to redistrict its political map (“Va. skews its House maps,” April 22).
The current House members are six Democrats and five Republicans, similar to this week’s close vote margin. The redistricting is meant to change that to 10 Democrats and just one Republican.
Democrats don’t want to have another mid-decade census taken, knowing full well they will lose representation. Are they really trying to “Save democracy” by oppressing the will of the people?

It’s shameful the Supreme Court doesn’t stop the gerrymandering of state voting districts.
Illegal immigrants have replaced fleeing voters in sanctuary cities and added people to sagging census numbers, which determines how many representatives a state carries. By ignoring voter fraud like this, the Supreme Court is rooting for President Trump to lose the House of Representatives.
