JUST IN: Trump Responds After U.S. Airman Rescued In Daring U.S. Navy Operation
President Donald Trump issued a statement after the second crew member from a downed F-15 aircraft that went down in Southwest Iran on Friday was rescued in a daring, nearly 48 hours-long military rescue operation.
“WE GOT HIM!” the president began in a Truth Social post.
“My fellow Americans, over the past several hours, the United States Military pulled off one of the most daring Search and Rescue Operations in U.S. History, for one of our incredible Crew Member Officers, who also happens to be a highly respected Colonel, and who I am thrilled to let you know is now SAFE and SOUND!” Trump continued.
The president confirmed earlier reporting from Fox News and a number of additional outlets, which reported that the airman safely ejected and used his training to hike away from the crash site and ascend to the top of a ridge. From there, he managed to alert rescue teams using a secure device.
“This brave Warrior was behind enemy lines in the treacherous mountains of Iran, being hunted down by our enemies, who were getting closer and closer by the hour, but was never truly alone because his Commander in Chief, Secretary of War, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and fellow Warfighters were monitoring his location 24 hours a day, and diligently planning for his rescue,” Trump’s post went on.
He further confirmed that the complex operation had been underway since Friday morning. It involved intense air power to cover the airman’s position, which resulted in the deaths of scores of regime forces who were searching for him.
Fox News’ Jennifer Griffin reported that the A-10 Warthog that crashed over Kuwait on Friday was involved in the rescue operation. That aircraft was later destroyed in order to prevent sensitive equipment from falling into hostile hands.
“He sustained injuries, but he will be just fine. This miraculous Search and Rescue Operation comes in addition to a successful rescue of another brave Pilot, yesterday, which we did not confirm, because we did not want to jeopardize our second rescue operation,” Trump continued.
“This is the first time in military memory that two U.S. Pilots have been rescued, separately, deep in Enemy Territory. WE WILL NEVER LEAVE AN AMERICAN WARFIGHTER BEHIND! The fact that we were able to pull off both of these operations, without a SINGLE American killed, or even wounded, just proves once again, that we have achieved overwhelming Air Dominance and Superiority over the Iranian skies.”
He concluded by calling on all Americans, regardless of political affiliation, to celebrate the daring mission. “We truly have the best, most professional, and lethal Military in the History of the World. GOD BLESS AMERICA, GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS, AND HAPPY EASTER TO ALL!”

The confirmation comes after President Trump called a lid earlier in the day and remained at the White House. This deviated from his usual schedule, as he primarily travels to his Mar-A-Lago estate over the weekend.
It is unclear how many Iranian Basij and other regime forces were killed in the operation, though Trump confirmed that no U.S. service members were killed in the operation. Iranian state media reported that several people had been killed and wounded in the Boyer-Ahmad area around 8:44 p.m. Eastern Time.
