NEW: Massachusetts Man Arrested For Threatening To Kill President Trump
A Massachusetts man is facing a number of federal charges in connection with alleged threats to kill President Donald Trump.
Andrew D. Emerald, 45, of Great Barrington, Massachusetts, was arrested on Wednesday after a federal grand jury indicted him on eight counts of interstate transmission of threatening communications. The charges relate to eight Facebook posts he allegedly made between May 3, 2025, and July 7, 2025, in which he threatened to injure or kill President Trump.
According to the indictment, Emerald used his Facebook account, identified as “Andrew Dale Emerald Lmt,” to post the messages. “When I see to it that Trump is put to death. It will be the the day the purpose creation put me here for beyond creating. My daughter is fulfilled. (because what she is destined to do for the world is far greater than mine, taking out the orange menace!)” Emerald wrote in a May 3, 2025 post.
“Oh, I’m not just watching!! Either Trump is dead and in the ground by 2026 or I am hunting him down and putting him there. Do you hear that FBI and any other organization that wants to show up at my f****** door? Put the enemy of the United States in a f****** body bag or I will,” reads another post from May 13 of that year.
“Cause and effect. Trump being a monster to humanity caused this family suffering, and they might never choose to have children because of him Affect we’re going to f****** kill Trump on public television so the world sees what we do to f****** monsters and then we’re gonna hang him from the Statue of Liberty until his pathetic bloated corpse rots off falls in the ocean, and I swept out the to see with humanities trash,” Emerald ranted in another post two days later. “After what I just heard if Trump is not dead by 2026 I’m going to Mar-a-Lago and I’m going after myself.”
He later doubled down on his threats a few hours later. “That’s not a threat that’s a f****** promise and I don’t have Trump arrangement syndrome. The bulls*** they made up. I’m going after him for taking my second amendment rights on constitutionally for calling him the Russian asset that he is! Cause and f****** affect!!!’ I’m going after him because I’m an actual f****** patriot,” Emerald ranted, concluding by telling Trump that he was “coming for” him.
Additional threats were made in June, while the final post was made on July 7, 2025. “Trump either you’re dead by 2026 or I’m coming for you personally and if I’m the one that kills you, you’re gonna suffer you little f****** b****,” that post reads.
United States Attorney Leah Foley and Ted E. Docks, Special Agent in Charge of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Boston Division, announced that Emerald had been taken into custody on Wednesday.
According to a DOJ press release, FBI agents announced their presence at the suspect’s Great Barrington residence, but Emerald did not respond immediately. After agents breached the door, he refused to exit and appeared holding a long metallic sword, telling agents they would have to shoot him. He then barricaded himself inside.
Crisis negotiators and additional FBI agents then arrived at the scene, and Emerald eventually agreed to come out after speaking with an officer over the phone. He was then taken into custody without incident.
Court documents note that Emerald had prior online activity in 2018, during President Trump’s first term, when he allegedly posted similar threats on the same Facebook account, including a reference to a mass shooting against Trump and his administration.
Authorities interviewed him at the time but filed no charges then. Each of the eight counts carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison, three years of supervised release, and a fine of up to $250,000.
