4.8 Magnitude Earthquake Hit New York City, New Jersey And Other Surrounding Areas | Malaysia World News
KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Consulate General of Malaysia in New York confirmed that a 4.8 magnitude earthquake struck near Whitehouse Station, New Jersey approximately at 10.20 am local time on 5th April 2024.
The ministry in a statement said tremors were felt throughout New York City, the Tri-State Area, and as far north as Massachusetts.
“There are no reports of major damage or injuries while the authorities are still assessing the situation. Ground stops were issued at major airports and some public transportation services were temporarily suspended.
“The Consulate General of Malaysia in New York is actively coordinating efforts with local authorities to obtain further information. Malaysians in the affected areas are urged to stay vigilant and follow the latest updates and guidance provided by the local authorities,” the ministry said in the statement.
