YouTube Premium is now cheaper with the new Lite tier
YouTube has officially released a cheaper Premium Lite subscription for the streaming service.
The new tier is aimed at users interested in content other than music videos. So, that could include vlogs, video essays, exercise videos, tutorials, game playthroughs, podcasts and more.
It means that people can watch this content ad-free, and download videos to watch offline.
The new plan is now live in America priced at $7.99 per month, just over half the price of a standard full-priced subscription.
The Premium Lite plan will also initially roll out to Australia, Germany and Thailand, with no word about a UK launch yet. However, if the pricing follows the same pattern as the US, we expect it to be roughly £6/£7 per month in the UK.
