WSJ: Elon Musk Likely to SUPPORT JD Vance Instead Of Starting New Political Party | JP

Now, before we get into this, I want to preface by saying this all stems from a report by the Wall Street Journal.

So, take it with a grain of salt.

However, if true, then this is some really big news.

Reportedly, Elon Musk has quietly put a pause on launching a third political party, as he vowed to do after his fallout with President Trump.

Instead, he is considering throwing his support behind Vice President JD Vance, whom many see as President Trump’s successor.

Check it out:

According to the Wall Street Journal, Elon Musk has basically neglected the path towards starting a third party while eyeing stronger ties with JD Vance.

Here’s a breakdown of the WSJ report:

  • Musk is backing off his third-party plan
Elon Musk is reconsidering his previously stated intent to launch a new political party—tentatively dubbed the America Party—due to worries about alienating influential Republican figures, particularly Vice President J.D. Vance.

  • Shift in focus to business and political alliances
Rather than pursuing political fragmentation, Musk is redirecting his efforts toward his business ventures and nurturing political alliances within the GOP.

  • Consideration of financially supporting JD Vance’s potential 2028 campaign
Sources suggest Musk may financially back Vance if he decides to run for president in 2028.

  • Previously backed 2024 Republican efforts
Musk provided substantial political support in the 2024 cycle, reportedly contributing around US $300 million to Donald Trump and other Republican candidates.

  • Third-party efforts have slowed or halted
Efforts to launch the America Party appear stalled: Musk has canceled meetings with third-party organizers and distanced himself from supportive figures like Andrew Yang and Mark Cuban.

  • This development is seen as advantageous for Republicans
The scaling-back of a potential third party is considered favorable to the GOP, as a third-party run could siphon votes and disrupt their electoral prospects.

  • No comment from Tesla or the White House
As of now, neither Tesla nor the White House has issued a comment on the reported pause in party-building efforts.

Elon Musk was a big part of the 2024 election.

Even after their friendship ended, President Trump has recognized that.

His support in 2028 would be huge, and it would be in the best interest of everyone.

Recently, JD Vance urged Elon to “come back into the fold.”

Here’s that clip:

Maybe Elon Musk saw that and it hit home?

I hope that this is the clearest sign yet that Elon is ready to return to MAGA.

However, there is one other, much less optimistic, theory…

I’m sure you’ve heard about the connection between Elon Musk, Peter Thiel, and JD Vance by now.

If you haven’t, then Grok can catch you up to speed:

The connection between J.D. Vance, Peter Thiel, and Elon Musk centers on their shared ties to Silicon Valley, conservative political activism, and support for Donald Trump’s political campaigns, particularly in the context of the 2024 U.S. presidential election.

Here’s a concise breakdown:

  1. J.D. Vance and Peter Thiel:
    • Mentorship and Employment: Vance met Thiel in 2011 at Yale Law School, where Thiel’s speech profoundly influenced him, leading Vance to pursue a career in venture capital. Thiel hired Vance at his firm, Mithril Capital, in 2015, and later backed Vance’s own venture capital firm, Narya Capital, in 2019 with significant financial support.
    • Political Support: Thiel was a major financial backer of Vance’s 2022 Ohio Senate campaign, donating a record-breaking $15 million to a super PAC supporting Vance, which helped him secure the seat. Thiel also facilitated Vance’s introduction to Donald Trump in 2021 at Mar-a-Lago, aiding Vance’s political alignment with Trump.
    • Ideological Alignment: Both share a skepticism of establishment institutions and progressive policies, with Thiel’s techno-libertarian views influencing Vance’s political rhetoric, including criticism of Big Tech monopolies and support for deregulation.
  2. J.D. Vance and Elon Musk:
    • Political Advocacy: Musk, alongside Thiel and others like David Sacks, lobbied Trump to select Vance as his vice-presidential running mate in 2024, seeing him as an ally due to his Silicon Valley background and alignment with their deregulatory agenda.
    • Financial Support: Musk pledged $45 million a month to the America PAC, a pro-Trump super PAC, which indirectly supported Vance’s campaign as part of the Trump-Vance ticket.
    • Shared Network: Both Vance and Musk are part of the “PayPal Mafia,” a group of former PayPal executives and founders, including Thiel, who share libertarian and conservative leanings. This network has rallied around Trump’s 2024 campaign.
  3. Peter Thiel and Elon Musk:
    • PayPal Connection: Thiel and Musk co-founded PayPal, forming a long-standing professional and ideological bond rooted in techno-libertarianism and a desire for minimal government intervention in tech.
    • Political Alignment: Both have supported Trump, with Thiel being a major donor in 2016 and Musk emerging as a significant financial backer in 2024. Their shared vision includes deregulation of tech industries, particularly AI and cryptocurrency, and opposition to progressive policies.
    • Influence in Trump’s Circle: Thiel’s network, including Vance and others like David Sacks, and Musk’s financial and public influence via X have positioned them as key players in shaping Trump’s tech policy and administration.
  4. Broader Context:
    • The trio’s connection reflects a broader shift in Silicon Valley, where a faction of tech billionaires, frustrated with Democratic antitrust efforts and cultural policies, have embraced Trump’s MAGA movement. Vance, as a former venture capitalist, serves as their political conduit, while Thiel and Musk provide financial and ideological firepower.
    • Their support for Vance and Trump is driven by a desire for a regulatory environment that favors startups and emerging tech firms over established giants, as well as a shared critique of progressive ideologies like DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion).

TLDR: JD Vance, Peter Thiel and Elon Musk go way back. Reportedly, Peter Thiel and Elon Musk are the reason why President Trump nominated JD Vance as Vice President, in the first place.

A theory has been going on for quite awhile now that these three may have underlying plans to turn America into a technocracy, where “infallible” AI and robots rule in place of humans.

Could this be the real reason why Elon Musk wants to strengthen ties with JD Vance now? Is it all part of a plot to bring about a new technocratic state?

Some folks on X are worried this is the case:

Do I think that’s what’s going on here?

I really hope not.

Occam’s Razor says Elon Musk’s change of heart is just because he saw the light and is returning to reason.

JD Vance and Elon Musk both seem like genuinely good guys who, in their own ways, truly have what’s best for the American people at heart.

But, the other possibility can’t be totally ruled out…

What are your thoughts?
