Why Did Landon Clements Leave Southern Charm After 3 Seasons?
Landon Clements stepped away from Southern Charm after three seasons in 2017. Years later, many fans are still thinking about her time on the show. The Georgia-born real estate agent has dished a few times about her exit from Bravo’s reality series, and she has kept her followers updated on her life since her departure.
What Happened to Landon Clements on ‘Southern Charm’?
Landon appeared on seasons two, three and four of Southern Charm. However, she announced her exit from the series in September 2017, confirming that she would not return for season 5.
“I have decided to return to California where I will be pursuing my career in residential real estate. I recently renewed my license and am thrilled to join the team at CLIMB Real Estate. While I won’t be returning to Southern Charm, I’m excited for this next chapter in my life,” she said in a statement at the time, according to People.
Why Did Landon Clements Leave ‘Southern Charm’?
The Bravolebrity opened up about her decision to leave Southern Charm in an October 2017 interview with People. “It wasn’t really about filming or not filming, it was just what I wanted out of my life,” she explained. “I love real estate and the hospitality … That’s what I sort of wanted to get back into. I know that if I want to get to the next level of things, I really need to get to work and be with people who believe in me, and training with them all summer has helped me so much.”
Landon continued, “I’m excited to pursue other things and we have so much fun making the show, but you know, I was just ready to do some other stuff now.”
The TV personality also revealed that she was struggling to adjust to life in Charleston, South Carolina, versus in Malibu, California, where she moved after season 4 concluded filming.
“I love Charleston, but it’s a tiny little town, so it’s hard to keep oneself really busy,” Landon added. “I just wanted to get back to California and the west coast. When we finished filming last season’s show, I came back in March, and I had to do a bunch of classes because I let my real estate license lapse in California, so I had to basically go back to school, which I kind of loved.”
Landon also explained that she could focus more on her career rather than her love life in California.
“I’ve known most of these guys since I was really young, or I’m related to them. It’s a very, very small town and there are great guys there, but I’ve literally known them since we were kids. It’s tricky at best, that’s another big reason I’ve been in California,” she continued. “I’m not really looking to get remarried right now. I’m focused on my career and want to get the real estate stuff going, and then I’ll try to figure all that out.”
However, Landon’s exit from Southern Charm was not completely unrelated to drama among the cast. In a July 2022 interview with Journalposts, the reality star slammed estranged friend Kathryn Dennis, claiming that many former cast members left the show “1,000 percent” because of Kathryn.
“No doubt about it. I certainly did,” Landon said. “She just manipulates everything into whatever it is that she needs in that moment. Just the way she treats people, it’s not how I treat people. It was too much negativity.”
Where Is Southern Charm’s Landon Clements Now?
Though Landon left Southern Charm, she has continued to stay in touch with many of her former castmates, including Shep Rose. “They’re not rid of me just yet,” she told People of her friends in 2017. “Honestly, all of my friends travel so much that they come and visit all the time … so I feel like they’re all still around. We’re a big family.”
Landon has kept fans updated on her adventures via Instagram. On December 31, 2024, she shared a video looking back on her year and reflected on her experiences.
“2024 What A Year! I traversed the country hoping for change and together we made that happen. I married off my sister and spent time with friends who feel like family,” she captioned the post. “New friends were made along the trail and I challenged myself daily searching for truth. Thank you to everyone who followed along you gave me strength when things got hard. I saw first hand a beautiful America that is wild and free and I am so excited for 2025. The Golden Era is here let’s celebrate. Too many of y’all to tag but I love you all dearly.”
