Peter was born and raised in Australia and worked in the design field. He’s also an entrepreneur who cofounded a skincare brand.
What Does Michelle Monaghan’s Husband Peter White Do for a Living?
Peter started out as a graphic designer working for such marquis clients as Google, Coca Cola, Land Rover, Samsung and Starbucks, according to his LinkedIn profile.
After moving to Los Angeles and studying at UCLA, Peter built his own interior design practice before spending two years at the design firm of Meyer Davis starting in 2018. He worked on commercial and residential projects while also helping create the company’s collection of fixtures furniture and lighting called William Gray.
Peter branched out into a new career in 2020, founding the skincare and wellness brand Herbitual, which stemmed out of his own battle with eczema that began in his late teens.
“Herbitual is the culmination of his eczema journey, a deep dive into Traditional Chinese Medicine that healed his skin – and the realization of a promise he made to himself at the height of his suffering,” Peter’s bio on the company’s site explained. The brand sells “Steroid-free skincare for dry, sensitive and eczema prone skin.”

The couple met in 2000 while the Mission: Impossible – Fallout star was having a drink with a friend in New York City.
“He had blue eyes and a Mohawk. It did something for me,” Michelle told Women’s Health in 2010. She asked Peter if he wanted to go on a date the following day and the pair have been together ever since.

The couple welcomed their first child, daughter Willow Catherine White, in 2008. Michelle gave birth to their son, Tommy Francis White, in October 2013.

Unlike Michelle’s The White Lotus character who can’t get her husband to return her texts or phone calls while she’s vacationing in Thailand, she and Peter can’t get enough of each other after nearly 25 years as a couple.
In February 2025, Michelle shared a throwback photo of herself and Peter in their early days of dating. “Valentine’s Day circa 2001. And we still rockin it,” The Family Plan star wrote in the caption about their loved-up snapshot.
The star gushed about her husband in a June 2024 Father’s Day tribute. “I can’t believe how lucky we are. You’re simply the coolest, most chill, most adventurous, present, funny, steady and loving father. Thank you for being uniquely and beautifully you @myherbitual You’re our heart and soul,” she wrote next to a family photo while Peter was behind a DJ booth.
Michelle was equally proud of her husband in a September 2023 birthday tribute post, sharing personal family photos and writing, “The pride we have for our beloved dude is infinite. 23 years of careers, kiddos, dreams, dance floors and beaches, he’s our GOAT.”
