Who Is The Voice Season 27's Bryson Battle? Meet the Frontrunner

The Voice season 27 has only just begun, but a few shining stars have already presented themselves to judges Michael Bublé, Adam Levine, Kelsea Ballerini and John Legend. Getting all four coaches to turn their chairs in the blind auditions is something every contestant strives for, yet only a few achieve, including singer Bryson Battle. Michael even considered him to have “the greatest voice I’ve ever heard.”

With how awestruck Bryson left the coaches after his audition, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him continue as a frontrunner for the rest of the season. Life & Style shares everything fans need to know about the singer.

Who Is The Voice’s Bryson Battle?

Bryson is a 21-year-old musician from Harrisburg, North Carolina. He is a student at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee and a member of the LINK Program for college-aged artists, according to his Instagram.

Bryson told the judges during his audition that there “has not been a time in my life where I wasn’t singing,” as it was always his “first love” and he always knew that he wanted to be on stage.

However, Bryson has struggled with his self-confidence, as he was diagnosed with vitiligo at 16 years old. Vitiligo is a condition that “causes your skin to lose color or pigmentation,” according to Cleveland Clinic. White or lighter patches of skin may appear on the hands, forearms, feet and face of someone with vitiligo.

“My first instinct was to cover it up, but it’s not hideable,” Bryson said on the show.

Bryson explained that his grandmother, who passed away when he was 17 or 18 years old, would kiss him on the forehead whenever he visited her. He had a vitiligo patch on one of his temples in the shape of a heart, which he came to know as a kiss from his grandmother after her death. From that point on, he said he “embraced” having vitiligo.

“She’s giving you the stamp of approval that she’s proud of you, Bryson,” his mom said at his audition, becoming emotional.

Bryson told the judges, “Music was the way that I felt I could express myself the most.”

Which Coach Did Bryson Battle Choose on ‘The Voice’?

Bryson auditioned with a cover of Donny Hathaway’s “A Song for You” during the February 10, 2025, episode of The Voice season 27. After his performance, Kelsea told the singer that she was captivated by his voice and felt like he would have an “amazing journey” as a songwriter. Meanwhile, Michael said that he had never been able to sing that song that well.

“Only an idiot would not be able to see and listen to what you do and not be blown away by it,” Adam added. He told Bryson that he wanted to help him become successful on the show.

Finally, John said, “Everything felt like it was just breathing for you. … I truly have never heard anybody sing [that song] like you sang it today. You made it feel fresh and new and exciting and you found new musical places to go in it. “

Bryson ultimately chose John as his coach.
