WATCH: Russian Collusion Hoax Architect Compares Greenland Talks To Russian Invasion Of Ukraine
Former CIA Director John Brennan, a chief architect of the Russian collusion hoax and signee of the bogus memo that claimed Hunter Biden’s laptop was the subject of a “Russian disinformation campaign,” compared President Trump’s push to purchase Greenland to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Former Republican National Committee Chairman turned MSNBC host asked the disgraced intelligence official “level” the Greenland situation for viewers. “You have the president defending J.D. Vance’s call to annex Greenland,” Steele said before playing a clip of Vice President Vance’s recent trip to the arctic territory.
Vance accused the Danish government of mistreating Greenland and framed an acquisition as an economic boom for the territory. The idea of a U.S. annexation has yet to gain traction in Greenland, though a majority of Greenlanders have expressed a desire for independence from Denmark.
Trump has framed the matter as a vital national security interest, as Russia and China have been attempting to expand their presence on the island. It also plays a key role in early missile detection systems and defense.
Located on the northwestern coast of Greenland, Thule Air Base is the U.S. military’s northernmost base and the only installation north of the Arctic Circle. It is home to the 12th Space Warning Squadron and conducts 24/7 missile detection using space surveillance and a massive AN/FPS-132 radar, according to a report from Defense News. “In the case of the Russian launch, it was an advertised launch, and so information about the number of payloads and the launch location and intended orbit were published,” said Major Jason Bullock, the 12th SWS’ operations officer, in a 2019 interview.

Brennan dismissed the Trump Administration’s security goals, however, by instead comparing a peaceful acquisition of Greenland to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
After briefly acknowledging the island’s strategic importance, Brennan described Vance’s comments as “extremely insulting” to “one of our best NATO partners” in Denmark. “Believe me, the Danes are great partners. “They would do everything possible along with our NATO partners to try to secure Greenland if there’s any type of threat or encroachment from Russia or China. But to say that we have to own it, it’s ignoring the sovereignty. Greenland is a semi-autonomous region of Denmark. And the Danes take their security responsibilities seriously. But Greenland is a large area, and the United States has for many years been concerned about that. But we can do it in partnership with Denmark,” he said.
“Not saying we’re going to steal Denmark, we’re going to take it over. That basically is the same justification that Vladimir Putin used to go into Ukraine. We need it for our own security and therefore we’re going to ignore that sovereign border. Might makes right and it doesn’t,” the former CIA director continued.
“And I know that a lot of the Danes are upset about it, our NATO partners are upset about it because here’s the United States again just flexing its muscles and saying, ‘we want it and therefore we’re going to take it.’ Which is, I find, quite appalling.”
