On-the-ground journalist Nick Sortor was assaulted and robbed by a mob of far-left rioters while reporting from the ground in one of Minneapolis’ predominantly Somali neighborhoods on Sunday evening.

The attack occurred in the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis, an area often referred to as “Little Mogadishu” due to its large Somali population. Sortor, known for his on-the-ground coverage of protests and other breaking news events, was targeted by what he described as a group of Somali individuals who stole his equipment and endangered his life during their escape.

According to footage and his own account, a woman approached his vehicle and snatched his $1,000 camera directly from his hands.

The reporter immediately gave chase on foot, but as the attackers fled in a red Kia K5 sedan with Minnesota license plate ZKG 007, his hand became trapped in the door handle. This resulted in him being dragged along an icy sidewalk for several feet, putting his life at risk.

Bystanders, including several masked leftist agitators, did not intervene and instead surrounded and threatened him afterward. According to a report from the New York Post, the group followed Sortor’s vehicle for approximately 30 minutes, honking repeatedly and creating an atmosphere of intimidation

“BREAKING: A group of Somali thugs just ROBBED me of my $1,000 camera in the Cedar Riverside neighborhood of Minneapolis. They then DRAGGED ME DOWN THE STREET as my hand got trapped in their door handle. NOBODY bothered helping. DHS MUST RAID THIS PLACE!” Sortor posted on X shortly after the attack.

The stolen item was Sortor’s high-end camera, valued at $1,000, which he uses for his fieldwork. He further explained that the assault left him “banged up” but otherwise okay, with injuries primarily to his hand and possibly scrapes from the drag along the pavement.

Witnesses in the video can be heard exclaiming, “She took Nick’s camera!” as the chaos ensued, and the getaway vehicle swerved dangerously to evade him. Sortor noted that he managed to obtain the attacking vehicle’s license plate, which has been shared widely in hopes of aiding an investigation.

The FBI soon responded to Sorter’s video of the attack with a social media post. “We’re on it,” the bureau’s rapid response team posted on X.

Sortor received an outpouring of support following the attack, with many prominent conservatives offering support and praising him for his work. Prominent conservative attorney Mike Davis responded to Sortor’s post by asking for his Venmo information so he could pay for a new camera.

The incident marks the second time Sortor has been assaulted in Minneapolis since violent unrest erupted in the city following the shooting of anti-ICE activist Renee Good on January 7. Both he and fellow on-the-ground reporter Cam Higby were assaulted and stalked by leftist rioters last weekend, which forced them to narrowly escape in a vehicle.

Just yesterday, controversial right-wing activist Jake Lang was brutally assaulted and allegedly stabbed by a mob while staging an anti-Islam protest in downtown Minneapolis. Lang suffered a gash on the top of his head, which required staples and a brief hospitalization, Higby reported on Saturday night.

Several members of Lang’s group were also assaulted.
