Melania Trump showed off her own dance moves on New Year’s Eve.

The incoming First Lady got in on the “YMCA” action Tuesday night at Mar-a-Lago, where hundreds turned out to celebrate with the president-elect and his family just 20 days before he is set to take office for the second time. An air of levity was palpable throughout the night, with “First Buddy” Musk and Trump dancing the Village People hit shoulder to shoulder while Musk’s youngest son X enjoyed the grooves. “FLOTUS Report,” a tracker of Melania’s movements, shared a viral clip on X showing the 54-year-old practicing a more subdued jive behind her enthusiastic husband, seen pumping his fists as part of his trademark dance. Melania, smiling and waving her hands in the air, looked no less pleased to be celebrating their historic night together.

Others present for the soiree were Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and his family, Vice President-elect J.D. Vance and his wife Usha, and Donald Trump, Jr. and his new girlfriend Bettina Anderson. Lara Trump, the president-elect’s daughter-in-law, brought down the house with a stirring rendition of “I Won’t Back Down,” the Tom Petty classic that had Trump and his pro-MAGA crowd crooning along.

Before he entered the event, the Republican leader stopped by a scrum of reporters where he confirmed he would be attending the funeral of the late President Jimmy Carter. One journalist asked Trump if he had any New Year’s resolutions he planned to commit to, but he used the moment to send his best wishes to the American people. “I just want everybody to be happy, healthy, and well,” Trump replied.

Melania was dealt a tumultuous 2024, beginning with the death of her mother and culminating in a triumphant election to four more years in the White House. Along the way, she advised youngest son Barron on which college he would attend and helped him select New York University’s Stern School of Business, teeing up the youngest Trump son to partake in the family businesses of real estate and politics, or if he chooses, to forge his own path. The telegenic, 6’9″ college freshman is the only son of Melania and President-elect Trump.

“He’s a grown young man. I’m very proud of him, about his knowledge even about politics, and giving advice to his father. He brought in so many young people. He knows his generation. Because nowadays the young generation—they don’t sit in front of the TV anymore. They’re all on the tablets, on their phones, and all of these podcasts and streamers,” Melania said of her son’s involvement in the campaign. “He was very vocal and he gave advice to his father, and it was incredible how he brought in success because he knew exactly who his father needs to contact and to talk to.”
