WATCH: Dem Senator Suggests Army Will ‘Save Us’ From Trump

Senator Mark Warner (D-VA) is being accused of calling for a coup after he said during an appearance on MS NOW that he believes military servicemembers will “save us” from President Donald Trump.

Warner and a number of his Democratic Party colleagues have been accusing the Trump Administration of carrying out “war crimes” over strikes launched on Venezuelan drug-trafficking boats in the Caribbean and the Pacific. The latest accusations hinge on an already debunked, anonymously-sourced  article from the Washington Post in which War Secretary Pete Hegseth was accused of authorizing follow-up strikes deliberately intended to kill any survivors.

On Wednesday, Warner escalated his rhetoric by suggesting that American servicemembers will rise up against the Trump Administration in what can only be interpreted as a coup.

Warner, who serves as the ranking member on the Senate Committee for Intelligence, claimed Trump and Hegseth have “disrespected” the military by firing Obama, Biden-era DEI commanders and assembling generals for a speech from their commander. “This is an administration that has fired uniformed generals, from the head of the NSA, the head of the Defense Intelligence Agency,” Warner ranted.

“I think uh… uh in many ways, the uniformed military may help save us from this president and his lame people like Hegseth because I think their commitment is to the constitution and obviously not to Trump,” he went on.

Warner’s comments have been interpreted as an open incitement of a coup against the democratically-elected president of the United States. “They’re now just openly calling for military coups against President Trump,” said conservative digital strategist Greg Price.

“When Mark Warner’s Russian Collusion coup failed he should’ve been punished. When Mark Warner’s Ukrainian Impeachment coup failed he should’ve been punished. He wasn’t. Now Mark Warner is calling for a military coup. No punishment, they’ll never stop,” said another commenter.

Others, like conservative commentator Carmine Sabia, called for Warner to be arrested for sedition.

Warner is far from the first elected Democrat to suggest that President Trump should be overthrown by the military in recent weeks.

The trend began when last month, a group of six Democrat lawmakers released a video in which they suggested military servicemembers should disobey “illegal” orders. After failing to list any “illegal orders,” the debunked Washington Post story was conveniently released.

“We know you are under enormous stress and pressure right now, Americans trust their military, but that trust is at risk. This administration is pitting our uniformed military and intelligence community professionals against American citizens like us. You all swore an oath to protect and defend this constitution,” the lawmakers said in the video.

“Right now, the threats to our Constitution aren’t just coming from abroad, but from right here at home. Our laws are clear,” they added. “You can refuse illegal orders…you must refuse illegal orders. No one has to carry out orders that violate the law or our constitution.”

U.S. Rep. Eric Swalwell has also suggested that the military should be used as a “check” against the Trump Administration. “What gives me hope, and I talk to service members all the time. They tell me that I don’t appreciate enough and the public doesn’t appreciate enough that while Congress is not a check on the president anymore, and the judiciary at the Supreme Court is hardly a check, military members have told me, ‘We can be a check,’” Swalwell brazenly declared.

“They’re essentially saying, ‘We’re not going to betray our oath to the Constitution because this guy tells us to.’ While it’s not codified that way — they’re not a branch of government on their own— their honor and integrity might just save us.”
