“Real Time” host Bill Maher appeared to be annoyed by his audience after they laughed at the second attempt on former President Donald Trump’s life on Friday.

“So let’s not bury the lead. The big story this week, they’re trying to shoot Trump again,” Maher began, drawing laughs from multiple members of the audience. “That’s not… not funny,” Maher remarked, at which point the laughter became significantly louder.

“I’m being serious now. This is the second time this happened. I’ve said this before. There can be no fuzz on this. This is not funny,” a seemingly annoyed Maher continued. “Okay? It’s not okay. It’s not okay to wish it happened.”

Once again, several members of the audience erupted with giddy laughter, causing the HBO host to briefly pause his monologue for a second time. “Well, this is a problem… Well, I mean, look, this happens too frequently. I’m sorry. This happened on the golf course. A guy was laying in wait, and it happens too much. In fact, besides the shooter, there were two other shooters beside him waiting to play through.”

A new poll from RMG Research president Scott Rasmussen and Napolitan News found that nearly three-in-ten Democrats believe former President Trump’s murder would be a positive development for the country.

An astonishing 17 percent of respondents indicated that America “would have been better off” if Trump had been murdered at his West Palm Beach golf course on September 15. “The desensitization of some Americans following the second assassination attempt of former President Trump is alarming,” Napolitan News noted.

That figure includes 28 percent of Democrat respondents, while an additional 24 percent of candidates stated that they were “unsure” whether the murder of a democratically-elected presidential candidate would be good or bad. Fewer than half (48%) of Democrats could bring themselves to say that America would not be better off if the opposing party’s candidate for president had been assassinated,” the outlet noted.

Despite two attempts on the former president’s life in less than 100 days, 51 percent of Democrat respondents said there is no reason to increase security around Trump. Among all voters, 62 percent think Trump’s security should be increased while 32 percent disagree.

On Friday, the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously passed a bill that would mandate a comprehensive review of USSS protective standards and impose new standards for protection of presidents, former presidents, vice presidents and major presidential candidates.

Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw told reporters that security would have been tighter around the former president’s golf course if he was still in the White House. Since he is only the former president, law enforcement was only able to cover vulnerable areas highlighted by the Secret Service.
