V.P. Harris Has ‘Biden Moment,’ Says U.S. Has Strong and Enduring ‘Alliance with the Republic of North Korea’

While President Joe Biden is known for his constant verbal gaffes, Vice President Kamala Harris made one of her own on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters at a DMZ (de-militarized zone) landing area in the Republic of Korea, Vice President Kamala Harris accidentally declared that the U.S. has a “strong and enduring” alliance with North Korea, which is a military threat to its southern neighbor.

V.P. Harris opened her remarks with the gaffe, calling the alliance with North Korea “very important”:

“The United States shares a very important relationship, which is an alliance with the Republic of North Korea.

“And it is an alliance that is strong and enduring.”

The transcript of her comments on the White House website changes what Harris actually said, replacing “Republic of North Korea” with “Republic of Korea.”
