Continuing the defective policy of the Biden Administration in the Balkans, the United States is pushing Serbia closer to Russia threatening regional stability. With the attacks on the fragile Dayton Agreement in Bosnia that are undermining Republika Srpska, attempts by U.S.-financed NGOs to provoke a color revolution in the country, and with anti-Serb policies in Kosovo, U.S. policy is forcing Serbia to seek closer ties with Russia.

Serbia has been relying on Russian intelligence to counter attempts by Soros funded NGOs to destabilize the country politically. And now the two countries are making plans to improve economic ties despite EU sanctions against Russia. To achieve this end, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić met with the Deputy Head of the Administration of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Maxim Oreshkin.

Vučić posted on Instagram “A good meeting with Maxim Oreshkin, where once again the commitment to strengthening relations between Serbia and Russia in all areas was confirmed. We also exchanged opinions on cooperation in the field of energy, trade and many other segments of importance for both sides.”

The topic of the meeting was the development of cooperation in the fields of agriculture, robotics, energy, infrastructure, mechanical engineering, information and communication technologies (ICT), digitalization, innovation, as well as the application of new technologies.

Minister without Portfolio in the Government of the Republic of Serbia in charge of international economic cooperation and the field of social position of the church in the country and abroad, Nenad Popović, who is also co-chair of the Intergovernmental Serbian-Russian Committee on  Trade, Economic and Scientific-Technological Cooperation stressed that cooperation with Russia represents a strategic partnership, especially in the field of gas industry, pointing to an extremely favorable contract on gas supplies signed three years ago.

“Thanks to this contract, the price of gas for citizens and the economy of Serbia is the lowest in Europe and we are working intensively to sign a new contract under privileged conditions in May of this year,” Minister Popović.said, adding that “this cooperation guarantees us energy security and enables unhindered growth of industry and economy.”

Popovic also pointed to the importance of Russian support for Serbia on the international level, especially on key issues such as Kosovo and Metohija and the adoption of the resolution on Srebrenica in the United Nations. “Russia has always been and will remain our reliable friend and partner in the most important international issues. Despite the enormous pressure, Serbia has firmly refused to impose sanctions on Russia and remains consistent in this position,” Popović stressed.

The Minister added that on May 9, on Victory in Europe Day, when Nazi Germany signed the capitulation in World War II, the presidents of the two countries, Aleksandar Vučić and Vladimir Putin, will meet in Red Square.
