Trump Federal Waste Cuts on the Horizon, Predicts $1 Trillion Cut – JP
Speaking at the White House on Tuesday, President Donald Trump told reporters that his administration expects to identify and eliminate up to $1 trillion in wasteful federal spending.
Trump emphasized that he hoped the court system would “allow us to do what we have to do” and fulfill the administration’s mandate to root out fraud and abuse in government spending.
“We’ve already found billions in waste since taking office—not just a little bit, but many billions of dollars,” Trump stated. “And when you get down to it, it’s going to be probably close to a trillion dollars. It could be close to a trillion dollars that we’re going to find that will have quite an impact on the budget.”
Trump cited USAID as one of the agencies under review. “That’s one. We’re gonna look at the military. We’ll look at education. They’re much bigger areas, but USAID is really corrupt. It’s corrupt, incompetent, and it’s really corrupt,” he reiterated.
The president claimed his administration has already uncovered “massive amounts of fraud,” amounting to “a lot of billions of dollars” within the first two weeks of his term.
Elon Musk, head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), joined Trump at the press conference, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to cutting waste.
“The American people voted for major government reform. There should be no doubt about that,” Musk stated. “That was on the campaign. The president spoke about that at every rally. The people will get what they voted for.”
With a renewed focus on efficiency and accountability, the Trump administration is setting a precedent for aggressive government reform. By identifying and eliminating waste, the administration aims to reallocate resources more effectively, ensuring that taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly. As the investigations into federal spending continue, the impact of these efforts will be closely watched by both supporters and critics alike.
