Trump Blows The Whistle On New Jersey Drones: ‘The Government Knows’
President Donald Trump weighed in on the rising concerns surrounding mysterious drone activity over New Jersey ports, offering his criticism of the federal government’s silence on the matter. Speaking with reporters on Monday, Trump claimed that both the U.S. military and President Joe Biden are aware of the source of the drones but have chosen not to inform the public.
“The government knows what is happening,” Trump said. “Our military knows where they took off from. If it’s a garage, they can go right into that garage. They know where it came from and where it went. And for some reason, they don’t want to comment.”
Unexplained drone flights have been reported over sensitive areas, including ports, military installations, and even near Trump’s golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey. The drones, described as unusually large and operating in coordinated patterns, have prompted a federal investigation led by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the FBI.
Trump’s comments come as public frustration mounts over the lack of answers from officials. “I can’t imagine it’s the enemy, because if it was the enemy, they’d blast it out. Even if they were late, they’d blast it. Something strange is going on.”
“For some reason, they don’t want to tell the people. And they should, because the people are really — I mean, they happen to be over Bedminster,” Trump added, referring to the drones reportedly flying near his private golf course. “I think maybe I won’t spend the weekend in Bedminster. I’ve decided to cancel my trip,” he joked.
When pressed on whether he had received an intelligence briefing about the drone activity, Trump declined to provide specifics. “I don’t want to comment on that,” he said, dodging follow-up questions about the nature of his briefings. While Biden remains in control of federal responses until Inauguration Day, Trump would likely be informed to prepare for any continued developments once he takes office.
The lack of clarity on both the origins and purpose of the drones has fueled speculation ranging from industrial surveillance to foreign interference. Many residents have expressed concerns about the drones operating near critical infrastructure.
Meanwhile, the FAA has imposed temporary flight restrictions over several sensitive areas, including military bases and Trump’s Bedminster property, in response to the ongoing situation. Local law enforcement agencies have also been put on alert, encouraging residents to report any suspicious drone sightings. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas downplayed fears of foul play, pointing instead to a recent Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rule change that allows drones to operate at night.
“There’s no question that people are seeing drones. And I want to assure the American public that we, in the federal government, have deployed additional resources, personnel, technology, to assist the New Jersey State Police in addressing the drone sightings,” Mayorkas told ABC News on Monday. “That may be one of the reasons why now people are seeing more drones than they did before, especially from dawn to dusk,” Mayorkas claimed. “I want to assure the American public that we are on it.”
As the mystery surrounding the drones continues, federal authorities face increasing pressure to provide answers.
