Trump Admits He Regrets 'Not Going After' ABC Debate Moderators
Former President Donald Trump regrets not “going after” ABC News moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis because he “wanted to be elegant” during his debate against Vice President Kamala Harris.
During an appearance on Fox News‘s late-night show, “Gutfeld!” the former president was asked about the media’s bias against him.
Trump pointed out that the moderators’ numerous fact-checks against him were clear they were treating him unfairly.
“I walked off that stage and thought I had the best debate, and I was very unfairly treated by the anchor,” Trump said.
“I’m not fans of those guys anymore, and you know, his hair was better five years ago,” Trump said referring to Muir.
Trump recalled Muir fact-checking him on crime rates.
“It turned out to be a false attack,” he said.
Muir cited FBI crime statistics in an attempt to push back against Trump’s assertion that crime rates across the country are rising.
According to a DOJ report released after the debate, Trump’s claims were proven to be true, revealing violent crime has soared under the Biden-Harris administration.
Trump added that the moderators let Harris off the hook after she repeated the Left-wing lie about Trump’s Charlottesville comments.
“They didn’t correct her once, and they corrected me [on] everything I said practically — I think nine times or 11 times,” Trump said.
Conservatives argued that the fact-checks on Trump and none on Harris put the former president in an impossible-to-win fight.
Trump argued that , more people realized that it “was all word salad” from Harris, adding that the media would claim that Trump “was nothing special.”
“I had people telling me that I’m wrong about things when I’m totally right. I was right about just about all of that stuff, and they were correcting me,” he said.
“And I think my only regret is that I wanted to be elegant, and I didn’t want to go after the anchors. I wish I did, in a way.”
