Trump Accuses Democrats of Leaking Classified Iran Strike Intel: FBI Launches Investigation

President Donald Trump has accused Democrats of leaking a classified intelligence report relating to U.S. military strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.

The leak has now triggered an ongoing FBI investigation.

Trump wrote on Truth Social Thursday afternoon:

“The Democrats are the ones who leaked the information on the PERFECT FLIGHT to the Nuclear Sites in Iran. They should be prosecuted!”

The leak followed a CNN report on the contents of a “Top Secret” intelligence assessment concerning the results of U.S. airstrikes on Iran.

According to the leak, an initial analysis from the Pentagon’s intelligence division suggested that Iran’s nuclear facilities were “largely intact” and that the strikes had only set back Iran’s nuclear capabilities by several months.

CNN read portions of the report on air, attributing the information to anonymous sources who had access to the classified assessment.

Watch:

In a separate leak to the Associated Press, similar conclusions were reported, suggesting that U.S. strikes did not “completely and fully obliterate” Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.

Both media outlets acknowledged that the report was classified and not intended for public disclosure.

On Wednesday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed the matter, confirming that the FBI is investigating the source of the leak.

“This is a matter of national security, and we are taking it very seriously,” Leavitt said.

She stated that federal law enforcement is working to identify who may have shared the information with the press.

When asked by Fox News reporter Aishah Hasnie how confident the White House is that the leaker will be found, Leavitt responded:

“It is possible this information came from Capitol Hill.”

“We are working closely with the relevant agencies and congressional leadership to determine how this highly sensitive information was released.”

The leak has raised concerns about how classified military intelligence is handled and who has access to such information.

According to U.S. procedures, top secret assessments are distributed on a strict need-to-know basis to select executive officials and members of Congress.

The report in question concerned the outcome of U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in June 2025.

These strikes were part of a broader military operation ordered by President Trump amid growing concerns over Iran’s uranium enrichment activities.

The Pentagon has not publicly confirmed the extent of the damage to the targeted facilities.

However, President Trump described the operation as a success.

The unauthorized disclosure has reignited debates over congressional access to sensitive intelligence.

Members of Congress from both parties are likely to face increased scrutiny as the FBI investigation moves forward.

President Trump emphasized that individuals responsible for the leak should face criminal prosecution.
