Travis Kelce Says He’d Love to DJ Taylor Swift's Songs: 'Hype Man'

Travis Kelce knows how to create a vibe, and he said that he wants to DJ some of his girlfriend Taylor Swift’s music.

During the Wednesday, June 4, episode of his and Jason Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast, the Kansas City Chiefs athlete, 35, told guest Shaquille O’Neal that he wanted him to “teach me your ways” when it comes to DJing.

“Bro, I got you, I got you,” Shaq, 53, told Travis before he shared a creative suggestion. “You know what’s crazy? You opening up with your girlfriend? Bro, you’d be a f—king star. 10 minutes hyping up the crowd. Oh my God.”

Travis quickly agreed to the idea. “Come on, you know I’m a hype man. You know I’m a hype man,” he said. “Get it rocking in there. Have the Swifties bouncing off the walls for tickets out there.”

The comment about Travis playing Taylor’s music during a potential DJ set was not the only time she was brought up during the episode. At one point, Shaq played her hit “I Knew You Were Trouble” from her Red album on his phone. “That’s my favorite song in the world, brother, I love it,” the legendary basketball player said while dancing along to the track.

Both Travis and Jason, 37, applauded Shaq’s comment, while the tight end also took the opportunity to reflect on Taylor, 35, buying the masters to her first six albums.

“Shout out to Tay Tay. Just got that song back, too,” Travis said. “Just bought all her music back so it’s finally hers, man, I appreciate that, dog. Love you, big Diesel.”

After Taylor decided to leave her longtime record label Big Machine Records in 2018, Scooter Braun bought the master recordings of her first six albums from Big Machine Label Group the following year for $300 million.

Taylor took to Tumblr to express her disapproval over the deal after it was revealed that Scooter, 43, bought her music catalog. “Scooter has stripped me of my life’s work, that I wasn’t given an opportunity to buy,” she told her fans at the time. “Essentially, my musical legacy is about to lie in the hands of someone who tried to dismantle it.”

Scooter later sold the music catalog to investment firm Shamrock Capital in 2020.

In an attempt to own her own music, Taylor set out to rerecord her first six albums. She’s released Fearless (Taylor’s Version), Red (Taylor’s Version), Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) and 1989 (Taylor’s Version) and fans are anxiously awaiting releases for Reputation (Taylor’s Version) or Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version).

On May 30, Taylor announced that she had officially bought her masters from Shamrock Capital.

“I almost stopped thinking it could ever happen, after 20 years of having the carrot dangled and then yanked away,” the “Better Than Revenge” singer wrote on her website. “But that’s all in the past now. All of the music I’ve ever made … now belongs … to me.”

She continued, “All I’ve ever wanted was the opportunity to work hard enough to be able to one day purchase my music outright with no strings attached, no partnership, with full autonomy.”

“I will be forever grateful to everyone at Shamrock Capital for being the first people to ever offer this to me. The way they’ve handled every interaction we’ve had has been honest, fair and respectful,” Taylor wrote. “This was a business deal to them, but I really felt like they saw it for what it was to me: my memories and my sweat and my handwriting and my decades of dreams. I am endlessly thankful. My first tattoo might just be a huge shamrock in the middle of my forehead.”
