With the advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) into everyone’s life, information is becoming increasingly precarious. No longer can one assume information is coming from another human. Manifestations of this reality are already happening.
James Corbett of the Corbett Report recently posted an article on this issue called Dead Internet Confirmed: It’s agents, trolls and clankers all the way down. In this article, he identified areas already being seized by AI, and everyone should become aware.
He begins with a new tool on the social media site formerly known as Twitter that identifies the country where the post originates. It was discovered that comments on several Trump supporting sites were actually based out of foreign countries. He goes on to talk about the various methods being used to spread propaganda. There is also a link to a report that over half of internet traffic is from bots, of which 72% is malicious.
At the end of the article, Corbett has suggestions on how to avoid falling into this fake world. The best action to take is to just not engage in it at all.
