The role of Islam in the latest outbreak of anti-Semitism
Op-ed views and opinions expressed are solely those of the author.
Following the arrival of a plane from Israel, hundreds of Muslim men stormed the airport in Dagestan, Russia, hoping to “catch” Jewish passengers. Their objective: “kill the Jews.”
“Allahu akbar,” they shouted. Rioters asked every person they encountered if they were Muslim or Jewish. According to The Guardian, passengers were forced to take refuge in planes or hide in the airport for fear of being attacked.
The mob did not succeed, leaving one to wonder what kind of violence would have been inflicted on Jews had they been discovered. Dagestan, by the way, is a mainly Muslim Russian republic of 3.1 million people.
The riot in Dagestan is an example of a worldwide outbreak of anti-Semitism following the atrocities committed by Hamas in southern Israel. Instead of encouraging sympathy for Jewish victims, the Hamas attack has been celebrated in numerous anti-Jewish and anti-Israel protests. “In New York. In London. In Sydney,” said British journalist Piers Morgan, “People were saying ‘gas the Jews.’”
In New York City, pro-Hamas rioters occupied Grand Central Terminal and the Brooklyn Bridge. Hundreds of pro-Hamas protesters stormed the Cannon Office Building in Washington. “At college campuses and even some high schools,” Townhall reports, “woke students chant, ‘From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.’ A call for the genocide of the Jewish people and the destruction of the only Jewish state.”
In the US Congress, Representatives Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar—both of whom are Muslim—and others refused to condemn the killing of babies, said former House Speaker Newt Gingrich. “None of them have condemned the raping of women,” he said. “None of them have condemned taking grandmothers hostage. There is no question in my mind that AOC and Ilhan and Tlaib and their friends are just plain pro-terrorist.”
“The surge of anti-Semitism worldwide is unexplainable,” a friend suggested. “What gives?” What gives is the rise of militant Islam. Behind virtually every expression of Jew-hatred is the refrain, “Allahu akbar.” Spurred on by the Hamas attack on October 7th, Jew-hating Muslims have come out from their medieval caves to reignite dormant anti-Jewish sentiment.
This is true not only in Muslim countries but also in the West. It is clear that Muslims will not tolerate Jews or Israelis anywhere in the world. Muslims have done a masterful job of creating an avalanche of pro-Islamic propaganda that is responsible for the pro-Hamas protests in Washington, New York, London, and other global sites.
The media have reported that 33 Harvard University student groups are signatories to a letter supporting Hamas. What the media neglected to mention is that nearly all of the 33 groups are Muslim or Arab organizations. Here are a few of the signatories: Harvard Islamic Society, Harvard Arab Medical and Dental Student Association, Harvard Divinity School Muslim Association, Harvard Middle Eastern and North African Law Student Association, Harvard Graduate School of Education Islamic Society, Harvard Kennedy School Muslim Caucus, Harvard Muslim Law School Association, Society of Arab Students. The power centers of the Islamic world cite the Quran to advocate and in fact demand the brutal murder of Jews. Islam’s holy book states that Muslims are enemies of, and must fight, Jews and Christians. The Quran orders Muslims to conquer and subdue people of other religions until they are in a full state of submission to Islamic rule.
“It is foolish to insist,” said former Muslim Ayaan Hirsi Ali, “that the violent acts of radical Islamists can be divorced from the religious ideals that inspire them. Instead, we must acknowledge that they are driven by a political ideology, an ideology embedded in Islam itself.” For a deeper dive into the uncomfortable realities of Islam, read Chapter Eight of my book, Tyranny of the Minority.
Since 9/11, more than 26,000 acts of terrorism have been committed in the name of Allah. Islam is fighting a war against Western civilization and non-Muslims. “How hard is it to understand that radical Islamic jihadis have declared war on the West?” asked Raheel Raza, founding member of the Muslim Reform Movement. “In simple English,” she said, “this means: they will find you and kill you wherever and whenever they can.”
“Muslims are working in the United States now,” said Pamela Geller, author of Stop the Islamization of America, “to make sure that Islam dominates by destroying our Constitutional freedoms. How do I know that? Because they’ve told us.”
As punishment for writing this article, I will undoubtedly be denounced as Islamophobic. “Islamic law,” explains Pamela Geller, “considers any critical examination of Islam to be blasphemous and subject to the death penalty.” Referring to Islamophobia as “religious bullying,” the late author Christopher Hitchens said, “We have to hear propaganda in the Muslim world telling children to kill Jews, Christians, and Hindus. That homosexuals should be stoned. And we have to claim not to be offended.”
“No other religion enjoys such protection from criticism,” said former Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann. “No other religion has advanced more violence, carnage and bloodshed than Islam and yet Islam’s gatekeepers demand their religion not be criticized. We need to recognize this is nothing more than a well-designed strategy to achieve Islamic conquest.”
Every thinking person should be Islamophobic. Islamic values represent an absolute contradiction to ours, as perfectly demonstrated by the atrocities of October 7th. “Resist it while you still can,” warned Christopher Hitchens, “and before the right to complain is taken away from you.”
According to a poll by Wenzel Strategies, 58% of Muslim-Americans believe criticism of Islam is not protected free speech under the First Amendment. “To learn who rules over you,” said Voltaire, “simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize.”
Anti-Semitic supporters of Hamas atrocities should be treated exactly the same as supporters of Isis, argued Douglas Murray, author of The War on the West. “If you stand with a Hamas flag,” Murray said, “you should be arrested, have your citizenship withdrawn, your passport withdrawn. You should be deported. You should be sent to Gaza and try your luck there—but you should not be given the right to insult and to taunt Jews after the death of Jews. It is intolerable and we should not tolerate it.”
Biden’s lax immigration policy makes it virtually impossible to prevent Muslim terrorists from committing atrocities in the US. The Intelligence Division of the US Customs and Border Protection Department has warned that terrorist groups like Hamas are infiltrating our country through the open southern border. As in the attack on Pearl Harbor, we just don’t seem to get the message until it is too late.
