Taylor Swift reunited with her original squad member Selena Gomez for a girls’ night out in New York City.

The ladies hit up The Monkey Bar on May 31, in photos obtained by DeuxMoi. Taylor, 35, and Selena, 32, were seen sitting at a table deep in conversation, as the “So High School” singer appeared excited while chatting with her close pal.

People obtained photos of the ladies leaving the establishment, showing Taylor wearing a black mini dress with silver sequin accents. Selena donned a tan pantsuit with a figure-hugging halter top.

The Only Murders in the Building star is one of Taylor’s longest Hollywood friendships, dating back to 2008.

“There has always been this quality of sisterhood, and I don’t say that in a basic way,” Taylor told WSJ Magazine in 2020. “I knew from when I met her, I would always have her back. In my life, I have the ability to forgive people who have hurt me. But I don’t know if I can forgive someone who hurts her.”

Selena returned the sentiment, telling the outlet, “She has showed up for me in ways that I would have never expected. Flown in because I was hurt and was going through something. Stuff that was going on with my family. It’s been proven year after year and in every moment of my life that she is one of my best friends in the world. We don’t agree on everything, but we respect each other with everything.”

The date night came one day after the “Lavender Haze” songstress announced she’d bought back the rights to her first six albums, sharing the news with fans in a May 30 Instagram post

“To say this is my greatest dream come true is actually being pretty reserved about it,” Taylor wrote in a handwritten letter. “All of the music I’ve ever made … now belongs … to me.”

Music manager Scooter Braun purchased Taylor’s catalog from Big Machine Records in 2019. He sold the masters to Shamrock Capital in November 2020. The Pennsylvania native has owned the masters to her music starting with 2020’s Folklore, after she left Big Machine for Universal Music Group.

While Taylor is celebrating owning the rights to her entire life’s musical work, she also got out of a subpoena regarding rumored estranged friend Blake Lively‘s ongoing legal battle with her It Ends With Us director Justin Baldoni.

Taylor was subpoenaed on May 9 in the ongoing legal battle between Blake, 37, and Justin, 41, over incidents that allegedly occurred while filming their 2024 movie It Ends With Us. Her involvement was related to an incident where Blake allegedly invited Justin to her home in 2023 to discuss potential changes to a rooftop scene in the film. However, he was allegedly confronted by the Another Simple Favor star’s husband, Ryan Reynolds, and Taylor at the home and pressured into accepting the changes.

“If you ever get around to watching Game of Thrones, you’ll appreciate that I’m Khaleesi, and like her, I happen to have a few dragons,” Blake allegedly wrote in a text message that Justin’s lawyers included in January court documents, seemingly referring to Ryan, 48, and Taylor. “For better or worse, but usually better. Because my dragons also protect those I fight for.”

In response to the subpoena, Taylor’s rep denied that the Grammy winner had any involvement in It Ends With Us.

“Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie, she was not involved in any casting or creative decisions, she did not score the film, she never saw an edit or made any notes on the film,” Taylor’s rep said in a statement following the summons. “She did not even see It Ends With Us until weeks after its public release, and was traveling around the globe during 2023 and 2024 headlining the biggest tour in history.”

The subpoena against Taylor was dropped on May 22, “because information was voluntarily provided” to Justin’s lawyers, a source close to the matter told Journalposts at the time.
